Macon State ASN Program....NEED INFO PLS!!!!

U.S.A. Georgia

Hello everyone! I need a little info on Macon State's ASN program. I want to apply for the spring semester in Warner Robins and I wanted to know which nurse entrance exam they would require and what's the average GPA. I only have a 3.0 and looking at other threads that's not too good, especially since I have already completed two years of school. I have also heard that MSC is incredibly hard, how true is this? And one last question how long does it take to complete?

Thanks Sooo Much!

Hey FaithWorks! I took the TEAS in March at Macon State. I would suggest ordering the study guide (online & book) the school recommends. It really helped. I've heard Middle Ga. is changing from the NET to TEAS. I can't answer the GPA question, but I've been told by another nursing school it is the first thing they will look at. And yes, I've heard the same thing, MSC is extremely hard. But their pass rates for the NCLEX are higher for it. How long is the program? I think 2 years. I am on the"waiting list" to start the program this fall. Good luck!:coollook:

I was told today in a meeting that there will not be a entering sprin 2010 class because of the large number of students entering in the fall (50 BSN, 50 ASN, and 30 RN-BSN). I graduated from the ASN program on May 8th (woohoo!!!). I am starting the RN-BSN program at MSC this fall too. But to answer your questions: I think MSC is moving away from the NET and requiring the TEAS. If you enter in the spring for warner robins the program is 4 semesters (spring, fall, spring, fall). If you enter in the spring for macon the program is 5 semesters (spring, summer, fall, spring, summer). If you enter in the fall for macon the program is 4 semesters (fall, spring, fall, spring). The higher your gpa is the better for entry but that is not all they look at. So do well on your entrance test and you have a good shot. Also, if you apply for BSN there is an interview which is heavily weighed upon too. The program is hard but doable. Once you get past the 1st semester things get so much better in the program. The 1st semester is the most difficult because of adjusting to nursing. Good luck with the application. And don't put all your eggs in 1 basket. Apply to as many places as you can so you can choose where you go. :)

So they won't accept a class altogether for Spring 2010 or just not a class on the Macon campus?? Does MGC accept in the spring? I really just wanna come back closer to home!!!LOL I've been away from Macon for two years and I can't take it!

Correct there will not be any entering spring 2010 classes; not in warner robins or macon. I think MGC accepts in the spring but I am not for sure. You should go to there website or call their nursing department to get the information. 2 years away from Macon and you're ready to come back??? You must be a in a small town or something. I'm sure nothing has changed since you left (LOL).

Hey who is this? This is Ray. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one up on here, Lol. Oh wait Steph is this you? I just realized the screen name. I love this site. This is where I learned about the pearsonvue trick.

Even though MSC nursing program is difficult like SBT said it is do able. I just graduated on May 8th and passed the NCLEX on May 26th. I don't know your situation, but if I could do it you could also. When I started the program I had two children one of which was 3 months my first day of class. The program is stressful, but if yiu are blessed enough to get into the program at MSC you will be successful as a RN. Good luck!

Hey Ray its me! I'm so stressed about N-CLEX. I sent you a message on FB; check it when you can.

Faithworks if MSC is where you want to be then go for it. Give 100% and you will definitely learn a lot in the program. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I checked it and responded. You'll do fine.

Hey everyone. I just found out today I got into the January ASN program at the WR campus. Can anyone tell me about the 1st semester...and more importantly how many days/hrs you go? I am trying to get an idea bc Ihave an 18 month old ad want to give the sitter an idea. THANKS! :)

Your first semester will require one day for 2 nursing classes (usually from 8-2 or so) and you will have clinicals for Fundamentals once a week through out the semester and clinicals once a week for 1/2 the semester or 6 weeks for Psych. So for 1/2 the semester you will have class/clinicals 3 days a week and the other 1/2 of the semester you will only have it 2 days a week. Hope this helps.

So, in all, the first semster is just 2 or 3 days a week? I thought you had to go everyday. I teach school right now and I am going to have to tell them I can't come back after Christmas. Do people work during the 1st semester or is it too hard? I am REALLy nervous bc I have heard MSC ASN program is SOOOO hard :/ Is school ever 5 days a week...and how late do you remember having to be at school? THANKS!
