Who's applied to GPC for the fall?

Specializes in Mental health, LTC, Correctional.
Yes we can, just let me know!!!

Thanks lovele for the info. I was planning on buying my books soon., but I'll wait.

Hello to all!!! Congratulations to everyone of you who made it in!!! Those of you who didn't don't give up!!! I am currently taking A&P 1 and the end of the semester is near. I want to know if I can apply for the nursing program this summer. My plan is to apply as soon as I can. My question is how soon did you guys apply? If everything goes well and they ask me to sit for the teas is it near the end of the year or anytime that I can take it? I plan to start studying for the Teas this summer!! Any feedback would be great!!

Specializes in ICU.

Once you're in A&P II you can apply and then sit for TEAS... That's what I did...I'm starting nursing this August. Good luck!

I applied in January, as the deadline was the end of January. You would want to apply closer to the deadline, so the courses you are taking can be considered for your acceptance. Summer would be really early to apply, and there is no benefit to applying early. Have you thought about contacting the nursing department and meeting with an advisor? They could tell you exactly what you need to do. As far as the TEAS, I believe I took it in January as well. What happens is you apply, then if you meet the mimimum qualifications, they invite you to sit for the TEAS. And then they will send you the available dates to take it. I am not sure if it is done all year long. But the nursing department would be able to give you more info on that. When were you planning to begin nursing school? Good Luck with everything!!

nurse2b...I agree with mg100...you want all of your classes to be considered for acceptance. Although they say you can apply with only A&PI, they are really looking for someone who has completed all of the core classes. The deadline for application is Jan3rd. You dont have to wait till the last minute, but since you have the time on your side, take your time and complete your core classes, especially your sciences, and then start studying for the TEAS. GPC likes if you take your TEAS with them, so unless that interferes with other school's applications, dont take the TEAS until GPC sends you the invite. (Remember, you only have two attempts on the TEAS, so make it count! You can order a TEAS study guide and practice test online: www.atitesting.com) Good luck!

Thanks for everyone's comments. My school accepted my girlfriend only after completing A&P 1. She still had A &P2 along with Communications and Microbiology, PE, and Research Strategies. So I was thinking that I would be early by applying this summer. I only have A&P 2 and Micro to go!! Just wanting to be an early bird. I will go ahead and email the nursing dept. to see what they have to say. Thanks again for all of the input.

Specializes in PD,Nxstage,hemo.

Wow i can't image taking nursing classes, A&P II and micro together. That's gonna be tough but I'm sure others have done it before, I guess.......

Maybe I communicated that incorrectly... I'm taking A&P2 in the Fall and Micro in the Spring. The nursing program begins in the Fall of 2013!!! Hope that's better!! :) I wouldn't even dream of taking the both of those together. :( Kudos to the folks that have done the two together!!

It wouldn't hurt to apply now. They won't make a decision until next spring anyway, and they will look at your grades up to then. They want to see that you will be pretty much done with pre-reqs and general ed before nursing school starts next fall, but you only need A&P1 to apply. It might be helpful to lay out your proposed schedule for next year to show them you have a plan to be ready. They sent me an email in February asking about my plans. If you meet the basic requirements, they will send you an invitation to take the TEAS pretty promptly, and the test date could be within a month of the invitation. So you should do some looking at the TEAS and feel ok about taking it before you apply. If you are free for the summer, it might work out well apply, study and get the TEAS over with before school starts in August.

Watashi thx so much for your response!!! It is encouraging and yes studying for the Teas over the summer would be ideal. I have the McGraw Hill study guide and the ATI guide. Are you currently in the program?

I am finishing my general ed this summer and starting nursing in the fall.

Watashi, so is my one of my besties. If you don't mind me asking what was your Teas score and your GPA?
