GHC January Admission RN Track

Is anyone trying for admission to the nursing program that starts this January at Georgia Highlands? I'm turning in my application packet early next week and wanted to see if there was anyone around to wait out the suspense with! :D

Hi! Nope, haven't gotten a letter yet. Have you? I talked to the nursing dept. and they said they would go out "at the end of the month"...the suspense is killing me!!!

No, I haven't gotten a letter yet! I have been obsessively checking the mailbox everyday! When you called, did they tell you how many people applied?

No, the lady didn't know how many applicants there were. It wasn't the usual secretary though, it was someone who was filling in. I wish I knew, because I don't know if my score is competitive or not. The advising people said it was but then again, there's only 40 spots instead of 100 like for the fall. Are you taking any classes there right now or are you done with your prereqs? Good luck, let's hope we both get our letters soon and they start with "congratulations". Is this your first time applying? I applied for the fall ('08) but I didn't get in b/c I didn't have enough prereqs done.

Ugh! I wish we could just know already! I have no idea if my score is competitive! I am actually not taking any prereqs at GHC. I am a student at GSU and I am graduating with a history degree in December. I delayed my GSU graduation just so I could finish my prereqs. I am done with all of them except for APII, Microbiology & Human Development, but I am taking those this semester. I don't know how much that will weigh against me though. Are you finished with all your prereqs?

That is too funny, I actually just graduated with a degree in criminal justice from KSU. I'm going to be applying to GSU's nursing program for Fall 09 if I don't get into GHC for this spring. I'll be finished with my prereqs this semester, I'm taking Chem 1151 at KSU and Micro at GHC. I hope that doesn't count against me too bad, but I guess I won't know for another 9 days or so.

I know they have a pre-admission work sheet where you can check on how many points you have. Do either of you know if you need to have all of the pre-reques done before submitting the application? I am lacking the communications class and the nutrition class, but would like to apply for next fall.

You don't have to have all your prereqs done, but it counts against you if you don't (you don't get as many points on your worksheet). They told me it is most important to have your 3 bio's done (A&PI, A&PII, and Micro) and/or as many prereqs completed as possible. Good luck!

PS - For what it's worth, I was told that an 1160 is typically a competitive worksheet score...not 100% sure if that applies for the accelerated January program but at least it's something to go on.
