Georgia Highlands College Waiting Game!

U.S.A. Georgia

Hopefully, we are getting close to hearing something. I wanted to start a new thread and see if anyone wanted to play the waiting game for fall ADN Program. We've been waiting since April 1st and it's about time we heard something.:anbd:

Have any of you guys used Microsoft OneNote or do you plan to use Microsoft OneNote while in nursing school? My laptop came with that, but I've never used it. I've heard really good things about it. I'm just wondering if anybody has actually used it for a class before.

Never heard of Microsoft OneNote.

Does anyone know when/whom will register us for classes? When I was at registration, I filled out the registration slip but I do not see any classes registered in SCORE. Also, does anyone know what all we will be doing at orientation?

I believe the secretary that you gave the registration form to that day is the one that will register us. Yesterday (Wednesday) was the last day of "appointment scheduled" registration. I was told that she was waiting until that was all done and over with to start actually putting them into the BANNER/SCORE accounts. She told me that they might show up by Friday. Actually I think it was Dr. Rees who told me that when I asked her when or how we would definately know what our daily schedule for the first semester would be. I checked mine this morning, and mine was not showing up yet either.

Let me know when it shows up....I will let you know if mine does too.

Sorry, I forgot to respond to the last part of your question.

I have been told from other nursing students who have been through the orientation, that you do A LOT during those two days. They really emphasize to you how hard it will be and how much study time it will require. If you haven't done so already, you can purchase everything that day including your books, uniforms, stethoscope, clinical kits. I have been told that they will explain everything that day as far as when and how clinicals will work, how lab time will work, etc. I think we will meet all of the nursing instructors that day as well.

Anybody know what else we will be doing??

When I registered, someone asked the secretary about paying their tuition and she responded that they would have to wait till either the end of this week or beginning of next before they could do that. She said she was really busy and she would get them registered as soon as she had a chance. She said that their account wouldn't have a balance until she put their classes in the system.

Today, I went to new student orientation. Sooo boring, but I did meet another student who is also a new nursing student and an applicant for scholar program as well.....We are getting closer to finding something out about wellstar, something like 2 1/2 weeks till we know. Yipppeee:yeah:

I talked to the nursing dept secretary just now and asked her when our registration would show up on our BANNER/SCORE accounts. She said that she was going to start putting them in on Monday.

Cool...thanks melissa for calling.

I found out that last year organizational learning, HR, and a person representing Nursing Excellence performed the interview. I emailed 2 people and asked if they could find out more information on this year's interview. I will let you all know if I hear anything.

Neat! Have you already been there?

I've been there for orientation, but not to the simulation lab. The ride there wasn't too awful, but I didnt take 75.

For those of ya'll trying for the Marietta campus, what are ya'll doing about the books and uniforms you've bought? Are you holding onto the receipts so you can be reimbursed?

I am also trying for the Marietta campus, fsu93. I already went to Lynn's scrub shop in Rome the day I registered. I tried them on and ordered 2 tops, 2 bottoms, and one lab jacket. All under a $100 and they have to sew the GHC patches on the jacket and top. I will pay when I go to pick them up. Since I don't need them, I'm in no hurry. She said said to give her a couple of weeks......I don't think our uniforms will change depending on our campus b/c we are still GHC students. We are just receiving a scholarship opportunity and committing to work for Wellstar after graduation. Our books will be the same too. The three differences will be 1. location of classes taught, Marietta opposed to heritage hall in Rome 2. An employment contract w/ Wellstar after graduation, if broken you are liable for repayment of funds. 3. You receive money each quarter from them for education to spend as you choose.
