Hello Everyone,

I am gearing up to apply for Fall 2009 at Georgia Baptist. I wanted to know if anyone else is applying there for Fall 2009 as well, or if there is anyone who has already been accepted and wouldn't mind sharing their credentials (i.e. overall gpa, nursing gpa, science gpa, if all prerequisities were completed, net score etc.) I am just trying to get a feel for the type of applicant they are looking for. Thanks so muc!

Ok everybody,

What did you think about the first day of nursing school????

I thought it went well. I'm about to start reading though..Want to make sure I stay ahead of the game instead of procrastinating (like I usually want to do). ;)

I thought it went very well and the time spent was well managed!

Hello to all 2009 nursing students,

I recently got accepted to Fall 2010(Georgia Baptist). I am super excited and super nervous at the same time because I have a family. I do not want their life to be impacted too much. If anyone has a any words of wisdom about the new 2 year curriculum, I would be so thankful!

My name is Matt Fisher. I dont have a family, but I know people that do in the program. It is doable. But, just know there will be times that you will be busy 8-5 monday through friday.

Hello to all 2009 nursing students,

It is alot of work, and time consuming, but there are a lot of people in our class who are married and or have families to take care of. One of the things that I heard caught a lot of people off guard and was hard for people to adjust to was that for each class we don't just have one professor the entire semester.. normally each chapter is taught by a different teacher.

-- Make sure you get a planner/organizer.. it will save your life!

-- Try to do your readings as much as you can before class.. it really does help!

Congratulations on getting accepted! GA baptist is an amazing school with amazing professors.. it will be the hardest 2 years of your life, but it's completely worth it!

Good luck!!!!

Matt, I can't wait to be joining you guys next fall!! I'm finishing my religion and culture credit at Georgia State this semester. I decided to retake my nutrition class because summer's professor was crazy and I had issues with her and ended up with a C when I potentially could have gotten a B+ (long story).

Congrats abra80! My name is Helen Yi. I will be starting at GBCN in the fall of 2010 as well. :)

I have fallen in love with GBCN for various reasons and it is worth the tuition money I will go in debt for. I believe that it's all about time management and knowing how to study in a way that works for you. I know it's not advised but I am a certified nursing assistant so I am looking to hold down at least a half-time job or a weekend job somewhere while I put myself through nursing school. I'm hoping to lower my debt to below $25k when I graduate.

Thanks all for the prompt responses! Maybe we will meet up sometimes Helen. I agree it will be worth the money as well. I live in tucker so my commute should be fairly easy. I am already looking up ratemyprofessor.com to see which ones I should try to get!

There is no option really on who you get. We have lecture all together for all the classes. During clinical you will have a clinical professor, which will be chosen by the staff based on where you live.

o.k, good to know. Yeah, any advice on clinicals the first semester would rock, like how many hours a week.

Specializes in Orthopedics; Geriatrics; Case Management.

1st semester you have about 6 hrs per week plus lab time that is about 4 hours per week for the first half of the semester. Right now, for second semester we have two clinicals, one for med surg and one for mental health. those range from 6-8 hours each
