Endorsement concerns

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I am a nurse in Indiana. I am thinking of relocating to GA. I am worried the board will not approve the school I went to. It is not NLN certified ( I though it was at the time- long story there of course) Anyway does anyone know how picky they are? I think that if you pass the NCLEX and are working as a nurse what school shouldn't matter as much. Oh well.. Such is my luck. I have called the board and they said I have to sumit the packet and then they board will decide. I hate to waste my money just to be rejected, so has anyone had experience or has heard of someone being rejected due to school:o?

DO NOT submit an application until you talk with someone on the board and verify your program is ok and the other question to ask is how many hours you need to have worked. Call the Secretary of State's office and ask to talk with someone on the RN board STAFF, if they won't put you thru, you will have to ask to speak with a "complaint" person...it's a long drawn out process and a real PITA.

You can see my other threads of dealing with the LPN BON and the RN BON isn't any better.

I can tell you there have been recent changes that even the staff is not aware of yet. These BON's are the worst I've ever dealt with...are you sure you want to move to GA???

Only this am, I recieved and email from the AA to a state senator with OUTDATED info so I've been on the phone with her for about an hour and now she's trying to get thru to someone on the board and they will call me back...it's absolutly ridiculous and I'd move in a heartbeat if I could sell my farm.

I wish you luck.

Thank you I will try that. It didn't make sense why they couldn't tell me before I submitted everything. It's a HUGE waste of money if I do all of that and then they reject it:angryfire. Thanks again and good luck!

Hi there, Im from S.C and moved to Atlanta 3 years ago. I was able to endose in with no problem, but again that was 3 years ago. I also recieved my LPN education from a vocational school to. I think the whole process took like 3-4 wks for me to get my GA endorsement. I think the cost for the app was between $30-$50 if I remember correctly.

And you do have to have so many hours to. I remember my old boss have to complete part of my appclication to show how many hows I'd worked. You should be fine if youve worked fulltime for at least a year.

I am a LPN and moved to the Atlanta area in Sept 09. I had to have my former employer complete a form verifying the number of hours I worked. I too received my license through a vocational type of school, but did not have any problem getting my license. The application fee was $75 - not sure if it is different for RN's. Call the board if you have any questions and make sure that you have all of the required documents when you mail in the application. I was approved for my license within 2 weeks - which I was surprising, especially after reading everyone else's posts. Good luck!

I am a RN. I need to have my California-RN license be endorsed here in Georgia. My application has been sitting in the GA BON for almost two (2) months already. All my other requirements were already accepted/approved except for the report from the CGFNS-CES which would determine if I had traditional or non traditional nursing background. The said report was forwarded by the CGFNS to GA BON on Nov. 15 but until now no action taken as I did not hear any update of my application---still pending. I tried to follow up the Board office by calling them but I just got promises that they will follow up my application and still nothing happened so far... I think it will take another months, years or so before I will know the result of my application. :igtsyt::rolleyes:

That's aweful!!! Maybe after the holidays they will keep the promises they made you? After all it is going to be a new and hopefully better year in 2010!

That's I am looking forward that after the holidays I can hear something about my application. I hope this new year will bring something new and good news, not only on my application but of the GA Board office that their processing of applications will improve somehow for the better.

Please keep us informed, I'm doing my own battle with the GA LPN BON - they have the same staff as the RN BON. I don't know if you are aware but the GA Secretary of State Karen Handle has resigned to run for Governor so I don't know how her office will behave.

The whole process of communication with the GA BON's is arduous at best. There is only one phone number posted and that only get's you to the "call center" of the Secretary of State, you ask the question and then are put on hold while they speak to the BON staff and then come back on to give you an answer...I hate getting info 2nd and 3rd hand.

I have been working with my state Representative and state Senator about the LPN BON and I've complained and requested NEW legislation, so please please let us know what happens and how long it takes. The hold up seems ridiculous.

Good luck

Whew! Finally, I received an email from the Board office today that my application for RN licensure by endorsement was approved by the Board and my license was issued today. I am happy of the news..after a loonnngggggg wait of more than two (2) months. I will just wait for my pocket license to be sent to me thru mail.

For those other applicants...GOOD LUCK to all of you!!! It rquires HUGE PATIENCE in your application.

Congrats!!!! Also, I don't think the GA BON issues pocket licenses anymore...go to their website and check, I know the GA LPN BON has a big notice on their front page that they will no longer issue print licenses.

Again Contrats!!!
