Emory Residency Program--your experience?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I am very interested in pursuing a career with Emory, as I've had some of my clinical experiences there and have really liked it so far. My question is: what is the new graduate residency program like? Were you able to chose what floor and for what shift you wanted to apply for when you applied for the program?

Any pros and cons of the residency program (hours worked vs pay, stuff like that) would be greatly appreciated. I graduate soon and am trying to network as best I can with hospitals in the Atlanta area.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

After submitting my questionaire for the OR Residency a few weeks ago (around June 25th-ish) I received an email back from Darrell saying "Thank you." just yesterday, July 5th. That was it..but atleast it was something! So they seem to still be filtering through all the questionaires (atleast for the OR Residency).

I just submitted my questionnaire for the September 2013 Operating Room Residency. For those of you who interviewed, what happens after? Do they request transcripts?

I found this other thread that may give us an idea of how things might turn out (i.e. we might not hear back until a couple of weeks before the program actually begins). Does anyone know when the actual start date is? September is mentioned in the link but maybe things have changed since then.

thanks sedem. I saw that one earlier today. glad to know how they interview, so I prepare accordingly in case I get an invitation. Best of luck to you!

Absolutely! Good luck to everyone!

Sorry guys, I actually didn't make it to Emory.

So how's everyone doing? Does anyone have a plan B ready to go in case the news aren't favorable?

@sremery - what do you mean? Your application was denied? If so, :(

Funny, I checked my application status on the Emory website literally a second before you sent this. I'm still "under consideration." I'm applying all over the place. Trying to keep my options open.

Sedem, I applied for the Perioperative track. Which one did you apply for?

Same here, well you know what they say .. "no news is good news". I applied for general surgical. I am applying everywhere else as well. Here's to waiting .... :sarcastic:

Oh I just meant that I wasn't able to go in there and ask about the residency program when I was visiting Atlanta, I'm still in the same boat as the rest of y'all in that I'm still "Under consideration".

I received an email today for an invitation to one of two upcoming info sessions for the OR residency. One is on the 18th the other on the 20th.
