Columbus Technical College?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello..

Does has anyone from this site attended or planning to attend columbus tech's adn program in columbus, ga?

I'm currently enrolled doing my pre-reqs and I plan on applying march 2011.

So anyone have any tips?

Advice?

Interview help?:)

has anyone looked at their schedules? they have me down for over 16 credit hours.:uhoh3::eek:

I am signed up for 14 hours, thats 3 classes. If you have not taken Microbiology yet, then they require it this quarter along with the 3 RNSG classes.

I have 18 because I am having to take Microbiology along with the nursing classes. So .... it will require even more effort on my part. I am ready for the challenge.

AshtonJosie .... I just saw your post. If you go to Banner Web you can see your full schedule that we are already registered for. Also, I have not seen a book list yet as I, too, are trying to get some of the books now instead of waiting until the last minute. Hopefully I can find something out soon and if I do I will pass the information along.

Yeah i can see our daily class schedule, i have just been wondering what the rest of our semesters will look like. Like before the switch to semesters they had all the classes listed out by quarter so i was hoping they would do the same for semesters.

And i looked at the bookstore website yesterday and they have finally put up the registered nursing class list, but instead of listing the books out it says something like "Fall 2011 Custom Package"... and its $678!! I am sure hoping its not the same exact fundamentals of nursing books that i already have, or that hopefully they will let you get just what you need if you have some of the books already. That's scary :(

I just spoke with the administrative assistant with the RN Program and she recommended just waiting a bit to purchase the textbooks because some of the books are changing. Also, she said we will receive a 41 page handbook at orientation that will give us lots of information and we will be receiving uniforms some time in October.

I would just like to ask, what was everyones GPA's? i(if you don't mind me asking) I did horrible in A&P, and I am so scared that I ruined it for myself with the nursing program. I am getting high grades in everything, except that stinking class. I have never wanted ANYTHING more than to be a nurse. Do you think I will still be able to get in with a C in a&p???

just my point of view, someone once told me that they really focus a lot on the a&p grades. so i think getting better grades in these two classes will make your package more competitive

I am not 100% sure on this but when I first started taking courses at CTC last summer, my advisor said that you have to get As and Bs in all of your classes because they won't even look at someone with Cs. Now ... that may not be completely true but the ones that I have spoken with so far that were accepted all had 4.0s and I have a 3.8 because I made two Bs. If you make a C in there, I would try to retake it for a better grade if you have the chance. It is VERY competitive. I had a couple of friends who made Cs this past quarter and were not accepted.

I am actually applying for LPN first but I have 1 concern for the future when I go for my RN. I took ENG 1101 in 2009 and got a C. If I make A's in all of my other prereq's should I be ok as far as GPA.

I am also looking at the LPN-RN program at CVCC.

It's really hard to say whether a certain GPA or grades will be good enough to get you into the program since it all depends on the grades of the people you are competing with at the time you apply. Also, grades are only a portion of the selection process.

Congratulations to all that have been accepted! I won't be in town when you have orientation, but really listen to the advice given to you by my classmates that are there! :)

So, CTC ADN C/o 2012.. How was your first day of class!?!?!? :stdnrsrck:
