Clayton State Fall 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Just thought I would get a forum started as we await the decision. Everyone feel free to post your overall GPA, math and Science GPA, and TEAS scores. Also why you want to be a nurse and what specialty you would like to work in?

Overall GPA 3.38

M&S GPA 3.4

TEAS 80.7

I originally wanted to be an OB/GYN, but then I got pregnant and decided I would just become an account (math is my favorite subject). After my stay in the hospital (labor/delivery & postpartum) I decided I can still be in the hospital setting if I become a nurse. I want to be an OB/GYN nurse.:heartbeat I eventually want to become a certified nurse midwife. :D

Please weigh in Clayton State Applicants!

Well overall GPA is very low due to bad grades back in the early 90's. But I do have a BS with a GPA of 3.25. I don't know if they will use that. I hope

Teas 75

M&S 3.13

Overall 2.53

Would love to be a Pediatric Nurse specializing in Autistic children. My son was diagnosed 2 years ago. So since then I retrained for a new career in Nursing. I love kids and eventually would like to get the MSN to be able to teach one day.

So glad you joined me...Thought I was alone! Autism is so interesting to me. I always wonder how some kids are diagnosed when they are older. Wonder why there are no signs at birth or during pregnancy.

Yeah it would be nice to have a test seeing how they can do a lot with amniocentesis. But seeing how autism they feel is neurological it can prove a challenge.

Hi,

I applied to Clayton state for Fall 2011 as well. Does anyone know when they will be sending out letters? I'm so anxious! I've been told my GPA and TEAS scores are good but I know they aren't exceptional so I'm a little nervous.

Overall GPA 3.3

M&S GPA 3.14 if they count all courses, but I think they may look at the best out of 7, which would make it a 3.4.

TEAS 79.3

I've always wanted to do something in medicine, so nursing was a logical choice for me. I'm not sure what specialty I want to go into yet, I'm leaning towards OR maybe. I suppose I have some time to decide.

They do 60-75 people interviews in between the middle and end of March and letters of acceptance should go out around first of April! 60 are accepted 10-15 are wait-listed. Also from what I'm understanding there is a possible 300 points. 100 for TEAS, 100 for M&S GPA and 100 for overall GPA! I'm nervous as well.

I was told for TEAS 75-85 was competitive. and to make sure you passed every section above the national avg. One friend is doing the LPN route and then will bridge over.

March can't come soon enough! I'm going crazy waiting to hear something!

@PomLover - Is it the only school you applied to? It is for me. I have wanted to be in that particular program since 2007!

@sreed73 - Not really true. Someone can have a 3.9 and get a 70 on the TEAS and still get accepted. I passed every section with above national average. I'm still nervous.

Yes, it is. I almost applied to Kennesaw but I didn't because it's quite a bit farther away from me and the program takes an extra semester. I also like Clayton State better as a school. If I don't get in this semester I suppose I will go ahead and start working on my Healthcare Management degree like you and start applying at a few more schools. What made you choose Clayton State?

I graduated high school in 2007 in one of my classmates went to Clayton after graduation and she told me they have a great nursing program. Once I had my son Fall 2007 I met some Clayton State students in the hospital. I talk to them about the school...just seemed like a great school. Wanted to apply to GSU, but I'm finished with all my pre-reqs and you have to take some of your pre-reqs after you start the program.

well I do have a friend who did get in with a 70 on TEAS but had a 3.5 GPA. But people in my area with low transfer GPA's the higher the TEAS score. If my GPA was higher I would not even be concerned with a score. I applied to Kennesaw but got heard that there was over 742 applications received. I hope that is not true. They are only accepting 90 people. I also applied to Gordon and GPC. I am currently a student there. So I am going somewhere.
