Hi there! I just received a Bachelors Degrees of Science in Health Care Administration, and now I am wanting to go for the Associate Degree of Nursing and become an RN at the local Technical College with a great nursing program. I visited the financial aid office today and she stated that since I have a Bachelors Degree I do not qualify for Federal assistance, as I had in the past with the Pell grant and the Stafford loan. She stated my options now are, private loans, such as Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo. Is there any other financial assistance that anybody else knows of that I missed? If it helps I live in Georgia. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (I'm certainly no expert on this), but doesn't the US military require a BSN for nurses?

Should of elaborated more...see if eligible for the NCP where they fund partial amount of your tuition when you complete the program you serve 2-4 year's something like that. Nurse is part of AmeriCorp or something with the Red Cross where they cover half the bill when you complete the program not sure if work's for them or volunteers time with them to compensate for the tuition.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Yes, they do at the moment. But this had changed often over the years. Currently they are WAY over staffed. If that changes I am sure they will change their standard as they have so many times before.

When I was first a nurse both the army and AF would commission ADNs who also had a bachelors degree in something else. The navy would only commission BSNs, but they had a program to make ADNs warrant officers. Even a couple years ago the army and AF national guard and the army reserve would commission ADNs. They will again if they are ever in a critical shortage.
