I just wanted to know how and why are RNs/SNAs such great judges of character? have there ever been a moment when you used psychology to figure out your patient?

Not sure I understand your question....doesn't everyone use a form of psychology (learned or inate) when figuring out people?

Yep it's called therapeutic communication. Nurses know if you're sleeping, if you're awake, if you've been bad or good... oh wait, that's Santa Clause.

But yeah, whether we label it psychology or not, we use it all the time.

Everyday. When pts don't want to get up and walk, when they don't want to get cleaned up, when all they want is for you to leave them alone....you have to kick em in the butt a little and still let them feel like they're deciding to do it themselves.....
