Who starts school this week!!!

Nursing Students General Students

I start September 5th, at 8am. We have Lecture all day and then Friday i have skills lab all day. My schedule is really Monday 8-2:30(lecture), Wednesday 7-3(Hospital/clinical), Friday 9-2:30(skills lab). But they want us to learn the basic before we get a patient, so our schedule for the first 4 weeks is different. I have :

Monday-Lecture- 8a-3p

Tuesday-Lecture-8a -3p

Friday- skills lab - 9a-3p

for the first 4 weeks, and then it is back to my regular schedule when clinical starts. The first week we only have 1 lecture day though due to labor day tomorrow. But thats ok cause it gives us a chance to get the overwhelmed first day feeling out of our system cause we have a week in between lecture classes this week.

So is anyone else starting this week with me?

I start on Tuesday too. I'm terrified!! It's a good kind of terrified though...I'm very excited.

I've been out of school for 5 years, but it feels like much longer than that.

My whole first week is basically orientation, so I guess they work us in slowly :)

I start Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.!! Pretty excited and quite nervous!!!! GL to all!

I have orientation all day on wed... and officially start on thurs.. but i only have one class that day... i am sooooo nervous.. i feel like i am going to puke

I start second year on Wednesday......and trust me when I say this...I am ready to KICK BUTT...(figuratively speaking that is lol):rotfl: .....Very pumped about all the extra studying I did over the summer and I did a TON....and as much as I hate writing papers, I did quite a bit of research over the summer so now my papers will take me less time to do. I have figured out TONS of creative ideas on how to teach my classmates and get them involved in learning...(will share if asked)... oh man, I reviewed fluids and electrolytes until I was blue, figured out a way to remember ABG's, did math calc's till sunrise sometimes, and so much more...

I was Totally addicted to Allnurses.com all summer and still am... and found sooooooo much information on the boards that helped me understand all the mumbo jumbo I learned in first year. So many AHA moments!!...it was so great.

So yep, I took time to smell the roses this summer too but I also worked very hard to grasp the information I learned in first year. And it sure helped that I had time to let concepts sink in. BRING IT ON BABY!!

Good luck to you all!!

:barf02: I start back tonight at 4pm AARRGH! I am starting my last year of my ADN program and I swear I am going to puke! Work is also being a total pain in the a** regarding my schedule, and apparently just changed their minds this week about it. Well, looks like I will definitely be spending alot of this semester going crazy. I'm so ready for school to start, we have med surg & pedi this semester so it's gonna be fun. Good luck to all of you starting school and may the force be with you!!!

I start Nursing 1 tonight. Found out last night that my mother has gone crazy and is leaving my father after 31 years in a wonderful marriage. :( I'm doing okay, but it has put a damper on my excitement (although I have been too upset to get nervous about tonight!), and I feel like my 'rock' has been shattered. I so badly need a mother-figure right now, and I no longer feel like I have one. This has certainly made me realize how important my own marriage is to me, and that I need to take extra good care of it for the next two years. Anyway, I just thought it was ironic that my expected crisis while in nursing school is probably happening right off the bat. So if I can get through the next few weeks, I think I'll be good. I'm sad that my memory of this first night of school will be an upsetting one. :(

I've been out of school for 5 years, but it feels like much longer than that.

I start back today, Wednesday the 6th. I graduated from a PN program on Aug. 10, have taken and passed my NCLEX and am starting the ADN program at a local college. I need something like 4 classes aside from their nursing classes to get my ADN and I'm knocking 2 of those out this fall. I'll take my license in as soon as I get it from the state and should be able to get into the next transition class. I would have taken more classes but my IV certification course starts in about 3 weeks and I really do need to start looking for a job now that I'm officially a nurse..... I'm sure my hubby would appreciate it...

Sh4nnon, you'll be fine. As you can see, I'm an older student. When I started the PN program I'd been out of high school for 23 years and had graduated from college 13 years previously. I was afraid that after so many years and 5 kids my brain would be mush but did quite well. You just have to learn how to study again. You'll be fine...

Good luck to all.....
