When do hospital placements usually start for RN students

I saw some students saying they had hospital placements their first semester of nursing school.

Is it normal to start out in the hospital right away do you feel you've had enough training ? I am going to be taking an RN program in Canada but it's a 4 year program and we don't start hospital placements until second year (not 100% sure tho). But I believe in my program the first year we start placements but in long term care/old age homes for a year to gain more experience.

Every school is different. Diploma and ADN programs start them sooner than BSN programs. I did a traditional 4 year BSN program straight out of high school. Half of our graduating class started clinicals 2nd semester sophomore year, the rest of us started 1st semester junior year.

I'm in a BSN program, and we started first quarter in fundamentals. The first five weeks of the term we were in skills lab, then the last five weeks we were on the floor in the hospital.

I'm currently in my first semester of a four semester ADN program. We are doing four weeks of clinicals (one day a week) in a LTC facility. In our second semester, we will be starting clinicals in the hospital setting.
