I am trying to get everything I need to prepare for school in the fall while I still have a job. I have literally about 18 books for the first semester. How do you carry all these books? Rolling cart/backpack? Suitcase?? :nuke: Can anyone suggest a good brand that works for them? Thanks

how much is this backpack?

I googled it and copied the link above. Looks like about $90.00-$200.00. It's a good thing he bought it for me because I would have never spent that much for a backpack, but I do love it!!:heartbeat

Hi- I use rolling back-packs. I bought my first from Wal-Mart and it broke from all the heaviness so I broke out the big bucks for a Columbia brand. I googled rolling back packs and it brought me to a great website where you can purchase last years "style" for a much cheaper price. I also purchased a messanger bag as well, but I bought it for 5 bucks on clearance at Wal-mart. I thought 2 bags could never hurt. Even rollers get cramped.

I left most books home. I usually brought the book on the first day of class, and kind of scoped out whether it was a class that would need the book every time. Most didn't, but the occasional class did and I'd just toss the couple in my cheap backpack or messenger back. Certainly got my workout some days!

As someone commuting ~90 minutes each way from home, I brought most of my books with me, and used the time between classes to work on homework or other assignments. This made the large rolling backpack very handy.

You definitely don't need to carry all your books, but it is a good idea to keep them in your trunk, just in case. I bought a Jansport wheeled backpack; so far I've used it for over a year, and it's still in great shape. I got it on sale for about $30, but it was so worth it(Try Marshall's, or Ross.)

You can always ask your instructor what books are absolutely required for lecture. They usually give powerpoint handouts for lecture, and you don't have time for looking through the book for info, while trying to fill in notes. I carry my books for after class study group.

I don't bring my books to class and neither do my friends. If I am taking them some place to study then I only bring the ones that I need, rarely do we need all of them. Some of my books are more referance others are used more one quarter and less another. I use a regular backpack and usually carry my large three ring binder (I have one for lecture and one for lab). Good luck!!!

Great idea!

I leave all my books in the trunk of my car in a huge plastic container to keep them from flying around when I'm driving, and to keep them dry since my trunk leaks. When I'm at school, I take my bookbag, put in what I need and switch them out between classes. But, I have a schedule where in a day we take two classes and a lunch break between them, not sure how yours is.

Does anyone commute by bike? I can't very well take a zillion books, let alone in a bulky rolling backpack, on my bike. In the winter I will be taking the bus, but I will never have my car with me to keep books in the trunk. Ohh life in Portland.

My friend drives a motorcycle to class, when he does this he only brings the notes for class that day (or prints them off when he gets there) most of us don't use our books or even study at school but that may be just us. We usually studay at home or in groups in someone elses house which is when we bring some books. I also get to study at work, and I always take a book or two with me there but never all of my books.
