We use Potter and Perry. It comes with a cd and I have been using it to study for my exam after re-reading all 41 chapters!! I hate comprehensive finals. We also have the ATI test to study for that is the day before the exam. AND a lab simulation. I am beyond nervous. I am studying 4 chapters a day and it is taking me a long time. I am surprised how much of this I have forgotten. I hope it all sticks! ;(

Hey! :) I am finishing up my first semesters (fundamentals) too! :) We don't have a comp exam though! :coollook:

We have a few books though- Fundamentals of Nursing by Harkreader, Hogan, & Thobaben. We use this for lecture mostly and Medical Surgical Nursing by Ignatavicious & Workman for lecture too. We use Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills with DVD set for skills lab.

Good Luck with the studies!

I am writing a paper on cultural awareness. I have to turn it in today by midnight so I am have to get back at it!

Hope you study the pediatric vaccination schedules - ATI seems to think this is a Fundamentals topic, for some odd reason...

I did Fundamentals back in Winter quarter of this year, and we were still using the 6th ed. of Perry and Potter, though the most recent cohort to start the program moved on to the 7th ed.

TMS1980,

How funny! It seems we all have to do some sort of cultural awareness paper or project. I found this to be extremely interesting! I did research on Navajo and Mexican death and birth rituals. I enjoyed what I learned!

Thesquire,

I am using Potter and Perry 7th edition. We don't go in order of the chapters either. They have found a great way to make it all come together. I like the sequence in which they teach us. Thanks for the tip on pediatric vaccinations squedules. UGH! SO MUCH INFO...SO little time. ;(

I don't remember the name of my book I will have to go look for it. It came with a hardback and a volume 2 that was a softback. I have never used it, I have used the CD it came with for practice questions.

I have been using the CD to study and have found a couple mistakes. At first I was like...HUH?! Like the answer is obvious as stated in the book and so that is how you answer it and the CD tells you it is wrong, but the rationale explains that the answer you chose is in fact the correct answer. It is contradictory. This has happened like three times and has me feeling a little loopy. Whatever...I need to talk to my instructors about it because it is confusing.

Kozier and Erb "Fundamentals of Nursing" and then next semester we will also be using Iggnavatious for Med/Surg

When I took Foundations of Nursing, we had two main textbooks - Potter & Perry for our lab and Kozier & Erb as the main text for the class. We were also required to buy this huge med-surg book by Lemone & Burke (it's blue)...but I found it more useful for my junior level classes (in particular, Nursing Care of Adults & Older Adults)

We have Potter and Perry as our main textbook for fundamentals. In fact we pretty much have to bring it every day no matter what class(es) we are having. Then we have a bunch of other stuff too. Ignavatious (spelling?), Varcarolis, etc.
