Okay I started a new case manager job today. On interveiw they said I would be making around 38k which I could live with. I find out today at orientation I will be making 19,000 year for a full time job working about 50 hours a week! I think someone is ripping me off. I know other places pay their case managers 40 to 45.......

I still have two other offers and I want to just quit and tell them to stick their crappy job.

Hubby is mad at me and says I should have gotten a better offer. I told him they told me the 38k and he says I need to do something. I don't want to look like a clod but I am getting severly ripped off-don't you think??????

((( :kiss ))) Hang in there,Girl ! Surely something good is to follow. It's out there for you. More often than not, it finds US when we're not even looking !

Hi Renerian,

When I first read your message I thought I wasn't reading it correctly.

You mean to tell me that you have 16 years experience as an RN and you are now at a job making $19,000.00 a year?!?!

That's like $10.00 an hour working full time or 40 hours a week.

Here in Pittsburgh that's about what a CNA makes.

Please don't walk, run away from that place. Surely you can find another nursing job where you know you'll make a lot more than that until you find another job that interests you.

My first job out of College working as a secretary paid $19,000.00 and trust me, you didn't need any sort of education what so ever.

Having worked in HR befor, I say get out now while you still can. They have lied to your face to suck you into the position hoping that you'll get stuck there and not leave.

And always get an employment agreement in writing before you even consider giving notice at whatever job you are currently holding. If whomever you are interviewing with will not put the agreement in writing once again, run, don't walk away from them. Written employment agreements are the norm now. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

You seem like a nice person and sometimes it is hard to believe that someone would lie to you to get you to come work for them but I have seen it happen time and again. Trust your gut.

Good Luck and I am sure that you probably feel dejected right now because it sounds like you were really excited to start this position but if you leave I'm sure you will be making the right decision.

Let us know how you are doing,

Col

It gets worse. I talked to the manager at this job and they had an agreement for me to sign that said for orientation staff development activities the pay was minimum wage. I told them it was unacceptable. They said take it or leave it. I and the other two nurse orienting walked out.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

Don't look back. You did the right thing. I know it can be scary jumping the plane without a parachute or in your case not having another job lined up but these people are SHADY, SHADY, SHADY!!!!

Any place that has to lie and make up "games" to sucker people into working for them is no place that you would want to work.

Would have loved to been a fly on the wall listening to the conversation between yourself and the other two nurses!

One question for you, do you know if this place is a new company or facility? If so, is it possible it was started by people with not so good reputations? Either way I bet if you asked around town you would hear some very scary stories.

Best wishes and hugs and I know you will find a better position!

I applaud you! You don't need that c#@$ and I am glad the others left too!!

Thanks Ladies for all your support! I already got another job at a SNF. Good hours 7a to 1p-5 days a week. Rotating weekends and holidays, and good pay........

I start tomarrow....................

Colleen, yes a fly on the wall would have heard alot. We were not argueing with the manager but all three of us were quoted a pay higher than they were paying!

Hubby will be happy I already got something else........LOL.

you have had no luck with jobs lately! i'm glad you were able to find another one. hope the third time is the charm!

=============================================

I am appalled that they had the gall to offer a nurse of your experience 19,000....and the unspeakable !@#$% to lie about your salary once they have you onsite. I think you are doing the right thing, that is not a good company to work for!!!
