unofficially in!!

Nursing Students General Students

I've been so stressed about what I would do if I didn't get in I've just been nuts, so I went & talked to the nursing program "person" today & found out as long as something out of the ordinary doesn't happen, like me getting D's this semester, I'm in. Our school takes 40 students, never been a waitlist, & as of today, they have less than 20 applicants, and some of those applications have lower GPA's than mine, & some don't even have the minimum to even apply. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off me. I have 3 kids , a husband, and studen loans, so not getting in would be unimaginable. I only have a 3.2 as of today, the minimum required is 2.8, so I was sweating. I still want A's in my last 2 classes right now, just to be certain. Just had to tell someone!!

CONGRATS! that's great, i have to wait until May before i find out if i'm in or not! keep us updated!

Wow, Congrats. Mrsmoo2, My school also only admits about 40 students - but they have hundreds of applicants and we don't find out until late April if we get a slot for the Fall. With only 20 applicants - I'd say you're in for sure - good going and best of luck to you... Let us know how it turns out. SusanNC

Wow! I read this thread and thought how lucky you guys are! The school I'm attending is a CC, and only offers the LPN at this point. I'm starting the only rereq I have to have, AandP in June. (I got lucky and managed to get out of the other English and math classes via ASSET scores.) While I know I've been accepted to the college, I can't even register for the A and P class until June 1, with classes starting June 2. As far as the actual nursing program goes, I have already been basically granted an "unofficial" acceptance by the nursing advisors and the VC for Student Affairs who sits on the interview committee. Our program only accepts 20 students per year, and the admissions is based on a point system accumlated through your HS GPA, ASSET scores, interview session and NET scores. On average, you must have a combined total of at least 60 pts to be admitted to the program once your pre req's are completed. Currently, I have 48 of those points w/o the interview or NET results being calculated... worth about 75 more pts. The interview itself is worth 25, NET, 50. The interviews don't take place until July, and the program starts in August!! So, unfortunately, I won't be given an "official" green light until a few days or weeks before the classes actually begin. You guys are lucky that you can at least be certain you are IN for sure several months before you get down to the gritty part!
