I remember a year ago, having just gotten my acceptance letter to NS. Buying all my supplies, getting my textbooks as soon as the ISBN was posted, stalking the ADN class of 2015 Blackboard site for my college, anxious for any program updates (insert happy face when I see the little red notification icon :D), preparing my study room, shopping for clinical shoes, getting my scrubs, reading blogs and posts about nursing school, literally counting the days and chomping at the bit for classes to start last August..... fast forward a year. I have fundamentals, Medsurg One, Assessment and Pharmacology, and Community Nursing behind me. A couple hundred hours in clinical in the rear view mirror........ I am taking Psych nursing this summer in an 8 week semester to lessen the course load for this Fall. We have a one month break after Spring semester ended before psych starts.... I have about a week left. I am working, reading (non-nursing books), enjoying the summer, and relaxing. I still check my college's Blackboard site for updates but only when I have to (insert unhappy face when I see a red notification :sniff:) and I am only slightly looking forward to class starting. No, I'm not burnt out (but I know that I will soon be.... stressed and irritable and :banghead:). I'm halfway there...... and the past year has flown by. That is one thing you can guarantee about NS. The pace will make the time fly. So, enjoy your break, I am going out on the dock with my kindle and read some fluffy book that doesn't include nursing terms. That is, if Discovery Health doesn't have a Trauma: Life in the ER marathon playing....... because that trumps.

ever day that passes put you one day closer to your goal

Hang in there, you're not alone!! I am in the same boat as you, as are many of my classmates and I'm guessing yours! This journey that we are on keeps us on our game almost 24/7. One day at a time we will get there. Some days it helps me to remind myself of not only the end goal next spring, but how much I have learned and grown since this time last year. Good Luck to you, one foot in front of the other! And don't forget to make the time to do something you enjoy just for you once in awhile!

I strongly agree with you, the past year has flown by! I am two and a half weeks away from summer break and boy am I exhausted. On a happy note, I've knocked out Fundamentals, Medsurg I&II, Pharm, OB and now at the tail of pediatrics. I start Pysch in the fall, let me know how it goes. All the best :)

I can soooo relate. I only had a week off before summer semester and I plain did not want to come back. I am two weeks in now and just getting my head in the game. Yes, it is interesting to look back on one year ago and all the excitement of starting nursing school. But the excitement is ahead of us now, right? Graduation will come sooner than it seems.

I remind myself that I have one semester after this one and I will be getting ready for graduation. I just have to hang on and keep at it until then. Enjoy the rest of your break! The summer semester will go by quickly.

Yes, Everline! Thanks for the reminder that I still have something to be excited about! Graduation next Spring!

I hear ya, lorirn2b! Last year, I was chomping at the bit to get started in NS. Now that I'm halfway done, all I want is a break :D I think there's just so much we have to learn that our brains start getting overloaded. And, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I signed up for summer courses towards the BSN. Yes, I could have taken the whole summer off, but if I knock them out now, I have fewer classes to finish the BSN later.

I have a little over a week left of freedom. I'm really cherishing all the time off!!!! :D

Can you believe we're almost done????? (YAY!!!)

That's awesome, Kris! I will probably wish I had done that too...... But it's with great reluctance that I even signed up for Psych NUR. I didn't want to take any extra classes, I was so exhausted by end of semester. It was a tough semester, Medsurg and Community, and from what I have heard, it will be even tougher in the Fall. Such is the nature of the beast that is NS! Spring 2015 can't get here soon enough!
