To transfer or not?

Just curious if there is anyone that started at a nursing program and then transferred to another program? If so what were the outcomes, was it beneficial, and did you loose any credits in doing so?

I am currently in an accelerated program that has got to be the most unorganized cluster I've seen. Basically an administrative NIGHTMARE that seems to be getting worse by the day. There isn't teaching taking place rather more of lets throw some stuff out and hope it sticks to the wall. Or better yet lets spend more time talking about some ATI test than spending time in clinicals.

Nursing schools are notorious for not accepting academic credit for nursing classes in transfer. Good luck, and get it all in writing before you proceed.

I understand how you feel. I will be applying to some accelerated programs very soon and have same fears. However, there is one school I know I will be applying to that specifically said that if I am not doing well or whatever, I will have an option to decelerate and enter a generic program. I think it is rather great to have an option like that. Check out your school; maybe you also have an option to switch to a generic route.

As PP stated, it's very unlikely that any clinical course will transfer, but your academic credits should be good to go. Make sure you withdraw under positive circumstances... because any negative circumstances (such as suspension or WF) will be noted on your transcript for all the world to see.

I would also suggest coming up with a cover story that will be acceptable to a new school such as "accelerated pace was too intense". Whatever you do, don't badmouth your current school because this will not be received well by the academics who will be reviewing your application - they're all members of the same club - LOL.
