Isn't there a know-it-all in every class? In mine, it's a chicky-boo who failed last year. She acts like the instructors are looking to her for validation for everything they say. My thinking is hey - you obviously don't know it all or you would have advanced, shut the hello up! ...ok vent over...

Yupp, I have encountered many in my classes as well. The instructors usually get irritated after a while and people begin frown at them. The funny thing is that I am usually the quiet one in the classroom and end up with the highest grades than the know it all.

Then theres ALWAYS one who has to ask a complicated question requiring a long answer one minute before class is over. Those who think they know it all are usually the most insecure. Be insecure, sister, but dont hold up the class for it!!! LOL
TRUE! :rotfl: (I had almost forgot about that).

You know what irritates me about them? When I sit there and have to listen to them ARGUE with the instructor. They swear that something they saw on a nightly report or on the internet...etc is set in stone and they are going to dispute it to the end. "Well, I heard this..."
Instructors have office hours-use them!
Boy, I start classes on the 12th and I have fingers crossed that it is a decent group. I would love a great group-but I will settle for decent over terrible! :)

I hate know it alls too - so far it doesn't look like I have any in my A&P class - but I'm just holding my breath, because I KNOW, that NEVER happens! The only bad thing is, I tend to get branded as a "know it all" because I ask a lot of questions in class about little details - it's not because I think I know these details, I'm just trying to get a broader view of the material - and make sure I KNOW it! But I come across looking bad.... oh well, who cares - at least it helps me get the grades I need!

In my nursing class she always got A's and thought she was God's gift the rest of us. Turns out she got kicked out her last nursing school for getting 2 F's. No wonder she knew more than us, she knew what to expect. She even had groupies. They were all very young. We used to call them the Gerber Pack. I found out years later from a traveller who worked with her that she was an NP now and not very popular on the unit.
Yikes!! What a wake up call

don't forget the one who has a life experience to match every single situation we are learning....and shares it, completely and in detail, during lecture.
EXCELLENT! theres always one. So far we have the know it all, the one who asks a question a moment before class is to end, the one who has seen and done it all and has to tell us every single boring detail of every single thing she has ever seen or done. Geez! I really think we all were in the same classes somehow!

Groupies! The Gerber PAck! Funny.
I am with jsteine1. I can't stand folks who ask a question JUST as we are going to break or class is over. Don't they know I gotta pee or get a coke or dash to catch the train home in 5 mins? I've perfected the evil eye for these kind of students. It's guaranteed to quiet even the most persistant know-it-all.
If that doesn't work I "talk" to them after class. Don't make me miss my train! :angryfire
Exactly: We all had to pee, smoke, run for transportation and mostly, just end the day. We were so darn rude.I can picture the gal right now. She would raise her hand, and we would stand up and walk out en mass after she had done it a couple times. Got away with it too, because the poor instructor had to pee, smoke, get home to her kids, whatever. That girl was a PITA. think about it.
