 That is what my brain is saying right now..... WOW... Week one is over.. We do not have class on Friday, so we at least have that to look forward too.... :) Actually it wasn't TOO bad (ha)... Just very overwhelming... Which I knew it would be.. But I am still glad week one is down... :) The instructors keep saying that time is gonna fly on by and next thing we know it will be the pinning ceremony.... Yeah, right.. I'll believe that when it happens..
Oh well, Just thought I would share about my first week??? How was everyone else's??

yeah for you "nurs2b"!!!!!!!!
i remember exactly how you feel. yes the semester will be over before you know it. then next semester you get to be nervous all over again. not quite the "same" feeling but still nervous.
i just finished the first week of my second semester, no classes on friday here either. i think that first week is always overwhelming. getting the 135 page module, looking at all those reading assignments.

i am so glad your first week went very well!
i had my orientation last night. can you believe it? nothing, i mean, nothing was said about my competency. it was amazing! the dept chair was extremely nice. on a happier note, i am so excited, but incredibly nervous!
i start classes next wednesday. i will have classes tuesday - friday nights. i am going to be exhausted, to say the very least!
please, take care!
Hey Moni..
I am soooooooooo glad things went so well for you last night.. I was worried, cause I knew how excited you were/are to start.. How is your schedule set up? I am just curious, cause I have never seen a night time nursing class, which I think is great... I am sure you mentioned your schedule before....
Did you find out anything interesting in orientation?

hey all!!
well, i also just finished my 1st week of 2nd quarter. i can't believe it. of course the hard part, clinical, hasn't started. i am liking this quarter though a whole lot better than i liked last quarter.
anyway, today in skills lab, we did sterile fields. i could set up the sterile field fine but the gloves were the hardest. i can put 'em on but the cuff keeps rolling up in the back and i don't want it to do that. i'm a tall guy with large hands and even an size 8 1/2 wants to roll up. i mean, i can keep the finger and palm part sterile, is it ok if some of the bottom of the back rolls up? i need reassurance. even other students had their regular size gloves rolling up, of course they weren't making such a big deal out of it as i was; i'm a perfectionist for this kind of stuff. any suggestions???? thanks and everyone have a great weekend!

Zach,
Re: the gloves -- get a pair from lab and take them home. Put them on and take them off, refold and repeat as many times as you can. :) Seriously, practice makes perfect. Last quarter when we did sterile gloves, it would take everyone five or ten minutes to get them on, and now we're down to only one or so. It gets a lot easier with practice.

So glad that your week one went well. I know all of you must be overwhelmed. I am looking forward to my first week next week.
I have no suggestions about the gloves but would think that practicing at home with a pair would be a great idea!!!

Hey Everybody,
If this first week of second semester is any indication of the rest of the semester it is going to be ROUGH!!! The amount of information from lectures was HUGE!!! We had two focus days where we were in the same room for one class for six hours listening to speakers and watching endless videos, videos, videos(thankfully this only last two weeks before we get back to clinicals)
I'm already overwhelmed and trying to take deep breaths and remain calm, calm, calm.
(I have a funny feeling I will not be getting that lovely letter from the dean honoring me to his list this semester) oh well.
One day at a time......
