Stethoscopes

Nursing Students General Students

Hi!! I'm starting Nursing School this fall and I need to find a stethoscope that has less than 18 inches of double tubing. They told us to look at Littmann's but they are all single tubing. I don't mind buying a single tubing one but she told us that the double tubing is much better for students because its easier to hear with. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can go look for one??

Thanks!!!

Sunny

I have a master cardiology Littman and sometimes I can't even hear the heart beat! Sometimes when I tap on it I will only hear out of one ear.

It just wasn't worth the frustration so I got one of those $1.50 disposable stethoscopes. I use it all the time and it is wonderful!

The $10 and under "nurse stethoscopes"? I don't know how you can hear anything at all out of those. We have them at work and I cant stand them.

The lightweight Littmans are crap. The standard Littman is not much better.

I have a Master Classic II and a Cardiology III both of which are excellent, but pricey.

Sprague rappaport are good for school. I never have had a problem with the rappaports. Only thing I don't like about them are the hard earpieces. You can buy the Littman soft seal earpieces at any uniform shop for $10. Try to get those and put them on the Sprague.

My nursing school wouldn't even allow those super cheap stethoscopes. They encouraged Littmans and accepted Spragues. The others weren't allowed so you might wanna check on that.

Have you tried flipping the bell on that Littman over? Just a thought, but if you haven't tried that then that may be why you can't hear out of it.

Well, I guess I'm in the minority here. I have a Littman Classic II S.E., and I LOVE it. I have tried others, and I can't hear nearly as well through them.

I guess it is just what works best for you.

I have a Littman Master Classic II. Our lab coordinator was able to order them for the group at a slight discount.

Hello,

Have you tried EBAY by any chance? I went on their website the other day to see if I could find a brand new double-tubing stethoscope for cheap. You can really get a deal!! I don't know if you are familiar w/ Sprague sthethoscopes or Spraguelite stethoscopes.... even Allen and Welch sells some w/ double tubing. Check EBAY, it doesn't hurt to try.
