It doesn't really feel like we have done anything yet but been given a HUGE reading list and we have to write our own mission statement. A life missione statement. We have gone over in 2 days the "white bible" It's our handbook. We have TONS of reading to do in that over the weekend, plus reading from our fundamentals book, med surg book and another book. We have to sign a ton of agreements from our handbook too. We got out early both days and we go back at it full time on Tuesday after the Holiday.

Today we got a bag of "goodies" on our desks, in a big bag called pocket nurse. Inside was foley catheter kit, NG tube kit, sterile dressing kit, lots of things like that. I am assuming it's for our skills lab. Boy it just hit me that the things I have been watching the nurses around me do for the last 3 years that I have been working as a CNA, I will be doing these things within 3 months time! Clinical starts in 3 months! Oh Boy!!! I am even more nervous now that before. I mean I am not afraid of doing these skills, it's that I am afraid it will become too overwhelming with all the reading and my 3 kids and all and I won't make it. I JUST WANT TO MAKE IT SO BAD! I want to be a nurse so bad I can taste it!

Wow!! I'm speechless! Good going, Shannon! Best wishes in this new phase of your training!

Good luck to you!

the best part about fundamentals is when you get to insert and terminate catheters, iv insertion assist and termination plus the part where you get to do cord cutting.... tis real cool, the more when you get to be administering BCG intradermally to a 3 days old baby... mayne, it'll drive you insane because the baby's skin is real soft and sensitive a lil movement may cause then tip of the needle to get thru and thru..

I am going through the same thing right now.. I just finished my 1st week of nursing school and it does seem like tons of reading! I have 2 classes that use the Fundamentals book and it isn't the most exciting book I've ever read! Let's just keep at it and get through all together! :w00t:

:balloons: Good Luck To You All! :balloons:
