Yep, I am right there with you. I had to write "why I want to be a nurse", which I wrote about 4 paragraphs, then I had to have 3 references, and turn it all in. THEN I had to take the PSB (a psych eval test). Turned all this in late Jan, deadline was Feb 27. I don't get to hear until SOMETIME May. Help me, Jesus. I am going crazy. :uhoh21:

I also won't hear until sometime in May. Do you think that they do this on purpose to see how well we deal with emotional stress? :rolleyes:

Last weekend I officially applied to the nursing program, 3 essay questions, 200 word answers each. I also took the TEAS test on Thursday. I am pleased with both of these but I am soooooo nervous!! We had over 65 applicants and there are only 24 available spaces. Admission is based on GPA, essays, residence status and if there is a tie score it will be determined by the TEAS test. I won't hear until mid-April. I don't know how I am going to survive until then. Anyone else in this same boat? Misery loves company. Although I am confident I just can't imagine not getting in! Any moral support would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes comming your way! :) Hopefully they will let you know a.s.a.p. Sounds like you feel you did well, thats a plus. Now is a good time to take a vacation , extra classes or pick up a new hobbie to pacify the time.

I haven't taken my test yet, but I do know how scary it is with so many applicants and so little spaces. I take my test this fall, but won't know if I'm into the program until next march or april. Now that's a long wait! I've got my back up plan in place so I will survive if I don't make next years class.

Possibly, ha ha! Really, though, I think they do give considerable thought to each applicant. I'm at a local comm coll and they have 40 spots with about 200-300 applicants. So, can only hope for the best. Good luck to you!

I am actually thinking of applying to schools near where my mom lives too. I will then live in their guest house and come home for weekends if that works out.

Good luck to you!! I have been there, and know how hard the wait is. Last year I applied to only one school, in March, and didn't hear until the beginning of August. I guess they expect you to put your life on hold until THEY decide to tell you something.

Try not to dwell on it. And start making plans "just in case" you don't get one of those coveted spots. I'm not pessimistic by any means, but before I heard from mine this year, I also signed up for a CNA and Surgical Tech program, to at least get my foot in the door if I didn't get a spot.

You're the only other person that I've heard mention the TEAS Exam - everyone else takes the NLN or NET. I'm taking the TEAS on Tuesday and would love to know how difficult it is. Judging by the review book - it's filled with lots of chemistry, biology - even electricity. Thanks for any info. you can give me. SusanNC

Susan...I wish I had known there was a review book!!! Truthfully, it was fine. I strangely kind of enjoyed it. There were 4 different sections, reading, math, science and english. Alot of the questions were somewhat abstract like draw a circle, now draw a square around that and now draw another circle around that. which of the following 4 answers does your drawing most look most like? Other questions were concerned with being able to read things like menus, nuturition labels, instructional signs...very wierd stuff like that. There is chemistery and biology questions but they are VERY basic. I had more trouble with the algebra questions than the science or english ones. I guess the bottom line is alot of common sense and really just basic "sophmoreish" level college stuff. My final score was a 92.5% of which I am very proud of. I spoke to a few others who took it and their scores were like 75-85%. Take your time...it would be really easy to make stupid mistakes. Boy do I wish I had been able to talk to someone a long time ago about this test - would have saved my sanity. For the last month I've been hiding in my bedroom every night after work studying biology, chemistry, tons of algebra, etc. Last week I found study guides for the ACT Test and SAT's and spent the entire weekend taking the practice tests over and over - I'm just now coming up for air - my poor brain is scrambled!!! Today, one of my Sons said "Mom - aren't you ever going to stop studying for that test?"... :uhoh3:

Several of the questions in the TEAS Review Book deal with lung capacity, oxygen percentages, etc. My husband has been a Respiratory Therapist for 20 years so I asked him to help me with that part of it. He looked them over and said the way they worded the questions made absolutely no sense, so I was really panicking about the respiratory part of the test. He keeps telling me to relax and I'll do fine...

We had to start this application process at my school almost 6 months ago and the stress of it all is really getting to me. Supposedly they had 500 original applicants and only 40 slots for the Fall (I have no idea how many will actually show up for the exam Tuesday - but I'm really hoping it's not 500).
