Scrub dresses...what are they for?

At our orientation the other day, they said that women must wear white stockings or tights under our scrub pants to clinicals (no knee highs allowed) in case that we need to change into a scrub dress. Why would we ever have to change into a dress?? I really HATE tights and have no desire to be running around in a dress.

If anyone knows what this is for, please let me know cause I really can't figure it out.

I can't imagine why you would be required to change into a scrub "dress". As a guy in nursing I don't think they could find one that quite meets my style requirements. We do have scrub dresses available for students and staff with religeous requirements that forbid women to wear pants but I short of a sudden mid case conversion to that particular religeous sect I can't think of a reason to get "Dressed" up. Considering what is being asked I wouldn't fight it- there are lots of rules in our profession that make no sense. Perhaps that is what they are trying to teach?!

Lol, for the last time, required scrub-dresses are now all but obsolete, if not complete obsolete. Paper scrub tops/bottoms or loaner cloth tops/bottoms are the norm in ORs and other areas where you would be required to change out of your normal "street scrubs".

What in the world? I mean, unless you suddenly had a clinical assignment that zapped you back to 1982, then honestly I can't see how you would ever be confronted with a situation requiring a scrub dress. And no way could I wear tights under my scrub pants... way too hot!

What about the men, are they required to wear extra underwear in order to be prepared for these so-called scrub dresses?

Oh, between the little caps and capes and hose, I would just be fiddling with my clothes all shift!

Seriously, tights on my belly drive me crazy. But maybe with white scrubs it might help delete any unwanted scenes.

They have to have a protocol for scrub dresses because some religions do not permit women to wear pants.

I know in my area there is a sect of Pentecostals (Yes, I know not all Pentecostals follow this), that don't cut their hair, wear make-up, jewelry, or pants.

I simply would not be wearing tights under my scrubs. I would carry an extra pair of scrubs in my car (we don't get lockers). I guess I'm still struggling with the fact that a woman is required to wear white stockings at all (I take it that means the knee high white hose type stockings?). I wear white socks, the same as the guys.
