School uniforms.. ugh..

So what does everyone wear for clinicals? We have to wear all white uniforms which are ugly and uncomfortable. The fabric is pretty stiff. Our school's colors are maroon and white, so why not wear maroon scrubs with our school's emblem on the front? But no.. White uniforms. They're from Dove, so if anyone else has to wear these you can relate to my agony.

Here's a picture...

I don't know why we just can't wear scrubs. Our dean wants us to look professional, but we look stupid. I just thought I'd wine about it for a while.. ;)

Anyone else have any school uniform horror stories?

Hi,

bad news we have to have to wear white uniform too. i really dont like it but i have too.:angryfire

We had to wear white uniforms too, but we could choose our own. Whatever all white scrubs we want, with white shoes. Everyone had different styles. It was nice b/c many brands just would not have looked good on some body shapes.

But no more white uniform for me! I start my preceptorship in the next couple of weeks, and I get to wear WHATEVER I WANT! WOOHOO!!!

I know! I'm SO excited. I actually went to the uniform shop a couple of weeks ago and bought a bunch of new scrubs to wear. Probably spent too much, but I was just so happy not ever having to wear whites again!!!

Ours has to be the green scrubs with our school logo on it with a white lab coat over top. Nothing like making us pay more money that we don't have!!:trout:

Do you have to wear the lab coat at all times? Ive seen some nursing students from different schools wearing theirs. That seems so cumbersome.

We have white pants and white lab coats with our school's logo embroidered on the left sleeve, then blue cotton polos that are short sleeved with our school's logo embroidered on the right breast. I thought they sucked but they aren't that bad I suppose. The white pants suck though. Oh, and don't forget the white clinical shoes!

Red scrub tops with black scrub pants, white scrub jackets.

We did the masterful presentation to get us out of nursing uniforms and into nursing scrubs last semester. Funny thing, 99% of nurses wear scrubs. Not sure why nursing faculty think uniforms are what nurses wear...uniforms are what nursing students wear LOL

We wear teal pants that go with the hospital's color (hospital based school) and white scrub top with the name of the school sewn on it. We have the option to wear a teal scrub jacket. We wear white 3/4 length lab coats when we're in the hospital in street clothes. They are required to be from a certian place and only Landau, so while the quality is great, they are a bit pricey. Overall, I can't complain, they're not uncomfortable or hideous looking.

I don't know why we can't just wear a solid scrub set with the main color of our school. Yeah, we look professional to some people, but to a lot of people we look like doofs. Plus I feel like a doof when I'm doing clinical rotations. Scrubs are just easier.

Wouldn't a solid scrub color with a white nursing jacket look professional enough? Jeez.. Once I'm an RN I'll never wear all white again.

What's really going to suck is when we do a clinical roation at the hospital I work at and I'll have to go there in dress clothes and a lab jacket to collect info... They're going to ride me so much for that...

At our school we get to wear medium blue scrubs, in the brand of our choice. We also have to have a knee length white lab coat, which we get to when/if we want. And white shoes.
