Wow.....that has to be frustrating. So far I haven't experienced any problems like that.

That is real frustrating. I wouldnt worry to much about it though.... they are just gonna have to figure out a way to fit it what you all need to hear. This was in no way your fault!!!! Hope things get better for ya!

OMG Appy!!!!!

That is horrible. Not a way to start off the semester even if it isn't your fault. That is really bad, can't even get the day right. Someone's dropping the ball.

I haven't started clin. yet but I think that "TCW", Tonya, had some problems in her first semester too. It wasnt' that bad but I think she told me that in the first week the instructor messed up all the reading assignments. They read a couple assignments and then the instructor said that they weren't supposed to read that stuff and then they had to read all the correct stuff.

Doesn't give you a whole lot of confidence does it?

I can certainly understand your frustrations, Shonda. When I was still in school I was irritated from time to time with the seeming disorganization of things & the last minute suprises that seemed to always pop up at the most inconvenient times. At first I thought it was just my school, but after I started talking to students and grads from various other programs, I learned differently. My best advice to you though is to learn to roll with the punches. It's hard, I know, but school will just be full of mix-ups & burdens. That's part of what makes nursing school difficult & demanding. Don't sweat it, Shonda. Everything has a way of working out. Good luck to you! :clown:

Oh yeah, this happened while I was in school so often that I finally had to fight back by working double shifts on the weekend so the school couldn't mess with my work schedule.

But I made it through, and you will too. I kept telling myself, "They're certainly teaching us to be flexible and think on our feet, aren't they?" and eventually we students would just say, "Flexible" and roll our eyes, and we'd know yet another group had an unexpected change.... :chuckle:

So far this semester we have been shuffled around across the campus due to lack of classroom availability. And this is after we were shuffled around all last spring and summer semesters because they were renovating the nursing building which was supposed to improve class conditions. (Should I mention that when we have gotten to actually use the new classrooms, the equipment that was installed, like projectors and overheads, don't work and the old ones have to be wheeled in on a cart.)

We have been told to come at test time to the hallway outside of the instructors offices, and we will be given the location to meet at that time.

And the topper, one day we were told to go to a building across campus to meet for lecture. We get there, settle in, get books out, and are told to go back across campus to the nursing building. So we walk over there, have lecture for two hours at that location, then are told to hike back across campus to the original classroom we were in that morning. Not fun in cold weather and carrying 50 lbs of books.

Hope your class gets more organized. It's my last semester, and I've learned to just expect the unexpected and smile through gritted teeth. :rolleyes:

I feel your pain. I'm in my second nursing semester and I can't believe some of the things that have happened in our program. Classes switched, times changed, missing information from the syllabus. Miscalculated grades...(that was the saddest incident, it was for finals!) I hope this isn't going to be a recurring characteristic of your program...Good luck w/ your clinicals!!

OH MY GOSH!!! I'M SOOO GLAD TO SEE THAT MY SCHOOL WASN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS MESSED UP! I'M JUST SORRY THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAD TO DEAL WITH IT! WE WENT THROUGH 3, YES, COUNT THEM 3 DIRECTORS OF THE NURSING PROGRAM, UNTIL THE DIRECTOR OF THE SCHOOL FOUND ONE HE LIKED. WE HAD CLASS THAT THE SYBILLIUS " MYSTERIOUSLY" GOT LOST UNTIL A COUPLE OF CLASSES LATER... TEST PAPERS WALKED AWAY AFTER BEING GRADED, CLINICAL SITES WERE CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES, AS WELL AS CLINICAL TIMES AND GROUPS CHANGED AT THE DROP OF A HAT.... I COULD GO ON FOREVER! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I'M GLAD THAT IT'S OVER!!!!!! GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER " I CAN GRAB MY ANKLES... I CAN GRAB MY ANKLES!!"

thanks to everyone who replied. it is good to know that my school isn't the only one that has these type of mix-ups. the freshman team leader instructor called our clinical group into her office this past tuesday and apologized to us for the mistake and assured us that we would not have to make up this clinical time and that it would in no way affect us. i guess when they tell us we need to learn to "be flexible"...they mean it...lol. things seem to be better now, at least until tuesday when we have class again...lol.

well, i better get busy getting my calendar done so that i will know when all of my assignments are due. good luck this semester to everyone.
