relased from school

Nursing Students General Students

Published

i just started the rd semester when my life outside of school fell apart (husband left me for another woman, mother was dx with cancer, just to name a few) And as to be expected my performance in class became as unstable as the rest of my life. In 3 weeks time i went from a satisfactory student in clinical to getting my first ever advisement to being removed from the program. I am right now in the process of filing a grievance with the school but even then my chances are next to none. I loved being a nursing student, and as long as i can remember i wanted to work in the health care field. My question is now what do i do? I have 3 years of college and no degree. I heard that in ca RN students can challenge the LVN boards but i have no idea where to start. But if anyone has any ideas on helping me not let my education go to waste, Thank you so very much

I am so sorry for everything that has happened. Can you reapply to school? Perhaps a different school? As to challenging the LPN exam, I would contact the board of nursing to find out the true scoop. Good luck and welcome to All Nurses!

Gosh, I’m sorry to hear that.

I don’t even start nursing until this coming September, & I think about all the different unexpected life events that could come out of nowhere & derail me….

Here is something my A&P 2 professor told us last semester, he was talking about his ex-fiancée who did not make it through nursing the first time around. He knew we were all worried about the reputation this place we are going to has, & his advice was something to the effect of it “not being the end of the world.” He said something about how sometime “the time is just not right,” & how that’s the way it was for his ex-fiancée at the time, but how later she did get into a 4 year BSN program in Atlanta & how she did really well there.

I feel for you & wish you all the best.

All I can say is remain persistant and try to get back in.

You are going through a lot right now. I know what its like to have your life turned upside down (been there, done that). I will keep you in my prayers.

wow, that's a raw deal. Won't they let you withdraw with an "under duress" kinda thing and then reapply?

Is there anyway to take some time to yourself and re-take this semester over in the summer ofr fall. You're under too much stress right now to succeed. Take care of yourself. Best of luck with whatever happens.
