I am taking Patho this fall, and I am kinda nervous. I was just wondering if anyone has already taken the class, and how hard it was, good study tips, and anything else that would be helpful to me. Thank you!! :)

hi jackie and welcome !!.. no i haven't taken it yet, but it sounds very interesting. i wish i could give you some tips, please let us know how you like it this fall. :)

Thanks, I sure will!! I'm actually pretty excited about it. It will be my first actual "nursing" class, not like the Biologies and Psych's I had to take last year!!

I am taking it this fall as well. I do not know yet how much help it will be, but my instructor "suggested" a help book for us called Pathophysiology It is part of the Real World Nursing Survival Guide series. It was written by Gutierrez and Peterson. It also has NCLEX review sections in it. I have looked it over and it seems nice. It has nursing implications, website references, descriptions of the disease, what you need to know about the disease, treatment plans for the disease, clinical manifestations, at-risk populations, and self tests after each section to make sure you are understanding the material. I doubt the extra book will cover everything the actual class text does, but it looks helpful. Again, I am taking the class starting on Monday, so I am not sure yet. Hope this might help a little.

Thanks det01, that seems like it might help me out. I'll need all the help I can get to memorize all those diseases!! I start on August 28th, Good Luck to you!!

I'm going to be taking patho this fall as well.

This site really will be a big help to me. As you can see, I'm a newbie here. I'm looking forward to getting advice from all these nurses as well as fellow students!

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

we did not have to take patho for our asn program. i will have to take it for the bsn program.

Sounds like a real interesting course! Wish it was offered here at our ASN program! Enjoy and share with us all!

Make sure you study study study study! My mom took it in a four week course instead of it being spread out over a full semester b\c she's in an accelerated RN-BSN course. It's a tough class, but I know you guys can do it!
