Older Student looking for e-mail buddies

Nursing Students General Students

Hi! My name is Sheila. I'm 42, just started my second year of a 3 year part-time evening program. Would like to be e-mail buddies with other older students who are juggling work, school, and families to give each other encouragement, information, and support.

Hi! My name is Meg. I'm an LPN, working 2 jobs, (one of which includes travel), and am working through Regents for my ADN. Anyone else out there taking this route? Self-study is really difficult, as it takes alot of discipline to get the work done when you could easily be out playing on days off!

Hi Island Girl:

I am 38 y/o and am going into my final semester of a 2 year program. I am a single mom of four children, ages 16, 15, 13 and 4. This has definitely been on of the hardest things in have attempted in my life. So far I have a G.P.A. of 3.65 and am on the honors list. I say to you don't ever give up. You can do it. If you like you can email me at [email protected]

Hi, I am a 2nd year student nurse who has just gone into the branch (adult)of my diploma of nursing. I do agree with you over the lack of money we get and I too work bank shifts at the hospital. Where are you from?

and where are you doing your training?

don't give in, be strong

I'm the MOM not the MAID!

I'm 36 and just getting back to school to pursue my ADN. I feel like a GRANNY compared to some of the kids I'm in school with. It is so intimidating. There are so many things to learn. It is SCARY!!!!!!

Good luck to you all and I hope to see you back here!!

Hi Tracy

I am 35 years old ,mother of 3, single. I just came out of an abusive relationship. I to am back to school for my RN. I am scared. I am working with department of rehab to get off of county and social security and back to what I started be for kids and getting sick. I have recovered and plan on working with a disablity cordnator to help with the gray areas. I to am scared. I know that we both will get there. Email me If you wish to talk.

Wow - there seems to be a lot of us!

I'm 33, soon-to-be single mom with a toddler. It would be really nice to get support and encouragement, tips and tricks from other parents attending school.

Might I suggest starting a Yahoo group or something similar as a place to give each other support? It would be very similar to this type of forum, except more private and personal because it would be a smaller group.

If anyone would like to know how to start one, I can help you. If everyone seems interested, but no one wants to start it, I can offer to start one. Just post here that you would like something like that...

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Would just like to point out that most of the posts in this thread are from 2000 and many of the members may not be on the site anymore

LOL - Thanks for pointing that out! I just read the first few posts and the last recent post!

Iwould love to start a group. I am finding that this is what may make or brake some of us going back. :yeah::up: Lets do it. others will fallow. awsome

Hi everyone. I am 39 and am finally working toward my dream of becoming a nurse. :yeah: This is my first semester back at school, and I am working on my pre-reqs. I won't be able to apply for the nursing program until fall 2010 because I couldn't get an A&P course this semester, but I did manage to get it for the spring semester. I have three kids, 19, 10, and 2 and a husband who supports what I am doing, working full time so that I can avoid putting our 2 year old in expensive daycare and letting me go to school without me having to work!! :redpinkhe It's great to see that there are others in my situation; at times, it feels like there is no one else!! Good luck to everyone.
