Specializes in ER/Emergency Behavioral Health....

I'm thinking of joining NSNA. It's $80 for a 2 year membership. There is a chapter at my school which I am looking into joining as well. They only meet once a month and have a few fundraisers a year.

Has anyone joined this?

My main reason is it will look good on my resume after graduation, but I am sure I will meet some new people and make friends as well.

Specializes in ICU/ Surgery/ Nursing Education.

Yes I did. Yes it looks good on a resume. Meet new friends? Okay, maybe. There are service projects at times, which also look good on a resume. There are contacts to make at state conferences (twice a year usually). You would be surprised who you run into.

From my experience, facilities and perspective employers look for people who get "involved". The people that just get by or float have a harder time. Worth 80 bucks for sure.

Thank you.

I will definitely sign up. I'm in a 2 year associates and I can stay with SNAP (the PA chapter) until I complete my BSN.

YES!! An important aspect of being a professional is ongoing involvement in the organizations that develop and maintain our professional standards. After graduation, I hope you will continue to maintain your national, state and local ANA membership.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

It was fun in school. I managed to get the school to pay my way to the NSNA conference in Nashville too. Now that was where it was at. The networking I did there was fantastic.

They are having one this year that the school pays for through fund raisers. I won't make it though because I work weekends.

I will definitely try to go next year, though. I'm sure someone would cover my shift.

Yes! You should join. It's worth the money! Go to the NSNA annual convention if you can! I found it to be very valuable.
