Nervous!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone,

I've sat around for the last month, feeling almost jealous of those of you that were already starting. Well, it's finally my turn! My first day of nursing school is tomorrow, bright and early at 7:30 a.m. My stomach is all tied in knots, and I doubt I'll be sleeping much tonight.

My bag is all ready to go with my course syllabus and nursing handbook, which we were commanded to bring with us to the first class during orientation (which was six weeks ago!), along with the extremely heavy fundamentals book and clinical skills book. My chiropractor is going to have a heyday with me this week! ;)

Wish me luck! :)

Krista

Krista,

Best of luck to you!!! I'm about to start my fourth week of this semester and things are CRAZY to say the least!! We get our first lecture exam grades back on Tuesday (after taking our first skills lecture exam). We're all nervous about it, but my study group has gotten pretty close already and we have vowed that if necessary we will help pull anyone up who needs it. :) Our main concern is what do we do if we all get down at the same time??? We only hope and pray that doesn't happen.

Anyway, sorry I got off track there...You'll do fine...just sit back, take a deep breath, relax...and GO FOR IT!!!!

Best of luck

Shonda :)

Krista,

Welcome to the crazy world of student nursing!! It's actually allot of fun and as long as you keep the fun element in it, you'll be fine!! Remember you have all the support you can use right here on this board.

Have fun!!:D

You are gonna be great! Good Luck and just do your best!

Keep us all posted! (We all do!):D

Julie:)

Thanks, everyone! :)

Of course, it all went fine! My teacher is a little bit flaky, but seems pretty reasonable. We only have lecture on Mondays; tomorrow we have skills lecture, then on Thursdays and Fridays we have clinicals or skills practice.

I've chilled out a little bit about it. ;) Now I just have a lot of reading to do!!

(And I still feel a little sense of awe that I'm actually *in* nursing school!)

Krista

Krista,

You are going to do fine. It sounds like you are prepared for school. Do not worry. All you have to do is tell yourself that you are going to do this no matter what. If this is your first semester, they are going to try to weed students out. It is no big deal just suck things up and go on because second year is even better. Find people to study with and really sit down and study alone to. Nursing school is different and you can't just began studying the night before the test. So hang in there, don't let anyone get to you, tell yourself you can do it, and study hard.

Jennifer

It's my turn to sit and be jealous. I am working on my prereqs and hopefully will start next fall. I am so ready. I am sure you will do fine. Congratulations and good luck to you!

Teresa
