Hi,

I am taking the pre-admission exam on Saturday and I was wondering if people found the exam easier or more difficult than the practice-tests on the text books. I have used the Barron's and NLN Study Guide by Mary McDonald.

Thanks.

Needless to say how anxious I am about it!!!

Anyone...?

Haven't take in, but I would imagine it would be very similar to the study book.

I think they are about the same. I think the questions on the NLN were more of an overall of subjects, instead of specific. I mean, there were specific questions, but they covered a lot of subject areas. I didn't find there were 10 on heart functions, etc. The science actually covered a lot of NON-health related stuff. I've mentioned before that I had a few questions on electricity - OHM's and that sort of thing.

Be sure to get math functions down, adding and subtracting fractions, etc., WITHOUT the use of a calculator. That was what threw me. I had just finished a math class, which I got an A in, so I didn't study much at all, just brushed up on dosage calculations. What I forgot to do was do them without the calculator - just pen and paper. I used up all the time in that section, and still didn't finish all of the questions. If I had to do it over again, that would be the biggie for me.

Good luck to you! Let us know how it goes! :)

Rafa,

I agree with Whitney - brush up on your math skills (without a calculator). We found out 5 minutes before the math portion that "calculators" were not allowed and it totally threw all of us off. We had 40 minutes for about 45 "very lengthy" math word problems. From those I talked to after the exam - not one person finished that part of the test. When the Instructor said "10 minutes left" we all sort of panicked and just started guessing on our last few questions - lots of stress. I wish you all the best - staying calm is the best advice. Let us know how you did. SusanNC
