Need some advice...

don't have kids.........

but have done all the other you mention.........

I think you can do it.......with thought out planning and togetherness with your other half.............

you are already on top of the game.......you are going to go parttime................you will do great..........

unless you want to go fulltime.....then your other half has to take longer to do what they are doing..........

oh the memories.........of not the way it was for me.......hehehehehe

I'm starting nursing school in the fall, I'm 27, and I have a 2 1/2 year old. It's a part-time night and weekend program. I'm taking prereqs right now (at night) and have managed just fine. I'm a SAHM and I study when my son takes a nap. Working FT outside the home and schooling is doable, from what I hear from others. You have to plan when your study time will be. Might be for an hour after your child is in bed, or it might be a couple of hours on the weekend when you can find someone to help out with childcare. The main thing is to plan in advance and stick to the plan!

I know about needing a lot of energy for a toddler! Well, I'm here to tell you that I've still got it. In fact, I would go so far as to say that school gives me an opportunity to recharge and focus on something other than parenting for a while. And taking classes PT is definitely the way to go for me--I can manage school and motherhood successfully this way.

27 is not too old. Many of my classmates in my prereq classes are at least as old as I am and older. Being an older student is great. I'm learning so much more than I ever did the first time I was in college!

As for waiting until kids are in school...I can't say whether or not it's better. I've heard some people say that older kids are busy with activities and other things, meaning that parents are busy driving them around, going to games, etc. For me it made sense to go to school now since my son has fewer "committments". It's easy for me to go to school at night because nothing else is going on at that time. Good luck to you!

I don't think you are ever too old to do what you want to do. I am starting the nursing program in the Fall at the age of 35. I am a single Mom of a toddler, I work Full time right now and have gotten my pre-reqs outta the way at night. I don't think I am going to be able to work full-time in the Fall, but you have another income in your household so that should be less of a problem for you. You can definitely do it with some planning and the support of your husband and family.

You are most definitely not too old. I'll be 29 (again ) in June and won't graduate until I'm 29 for the 4th time! Married, 3 kids (8,6 and 7 weeks) and I'm just chugging right happily along. :) I love reading this board and seeing so many others that are in similar situations, and we're doing it!

Hi I am 36 going on 37 soon and will be starting nursing school this fall. You can do it but it will be harder. I can tell you that I love going to school now. It is the best. I love learning something new. I hope you will be the same. Take each day one at a time. You can make it!

Too old? Whoa there!:chuckle I'm 39 and about to graduate from LPN school. There's a lady in class that's 58! No....you're not too old! Go for it and do your best!

I was in nursing school before, and dropped out (like an idiot) when I came up pregnant with our youngest daughter. We said that I should be home with her, at least until she started school. She's in 1st grade now, and I am about to finish something I have wanted for YEARS!!!!!

Yes, it takes alot of energy to be a Mom and a student, but anything you want badly enough, you can do it!

Hi. I'm 30 years old. I've been home for 10 years. I have a 9 yr old and a 3 yr old. I'm going back to school in the Fall. I know it won't be easy, especially w/ my 3 yr old (she is full of energy), but luckily I don't have to work outside the home. I'll start w/ my pre-req's since classes I took before are not good because it has been more than 5 yrs. Good luck to you too. But think positive; WE CAN DO IT.

I'm taking it a little at a time. All my prereqs and coreqs will be finished before I start clinicals so I can still stay home with my son and not abuse my husbands job flexibility too much. Good luck. its challenging but I feel that it will be worth it.
