Need a good digital voice recorder

My old tape recorder bit the dust last night in class (it was like 8 years old anyways...lol), and I HAVE to be able to record my lectures!

I need a good one that can record for a long time, that I can download onto my computer and that is just good quality. I really don't want to spend over $150 if I dont have to, $200 at the most since it is something I will be using everyday for years.

Any suggestions, I need to get one this weekend. Also where at online can I look at reviews for these besides amazon.com (which is great but I want at least one other place to read reviews)??

Do those PDAs have digital recording?

I bought a Sony digital one for my A&P class. It was around $50. I had it set to be able to record in an auditorium type room. At that level, it recorded about 3 hours. (I know that's not much, but my class was only 50 mins 3 days a week) I had no problem hearing/understanding what my teacher was saying. It wasn't one that you could download to the computer, but by having to listen more often to free up space, it kept me on top of things.

I just bought an Olympus DS-330 digital, I'll get to try it out Monday. I'll let you'll know how it works!

I need one too! My instructor told us to get one! She talks VERY fast!(A&P) I've been looking at ones from Sony. So far I like what I see ! They have one for 99$ that will connect to your PC and it records 280 minutes and then another one that is 79 that does not connect to the PC but it records for 300 minutes. I'm only recording my A&P class.....but do you all think I need as much time as I can afford for the future?

I just bought the Sony that records for 300 min for 79 at Best Buy. It works good enough for me, it saves in files so you can do a few classes at a time.

I wasn't about to spend 200 on something I wasn't sure worked in a large room, but this one does just fine!

Check out http://www.gateway.com - they have the Olympus DS2000 Digital Voice Recorder for $195.95. Considering that the Olympus 330 is roughly $149.95, you get more bang for your buck buying the DS2000 which has a maximum recording time of a whopping 22 hours.

someone gave me a cd of our psych lecture and after listening to it over and over in the car, i made a 100 on the test :)

so i bought the sony icd-st10 digital recorder and downloaded my patho lecture onto my computer then burned it to a cd...it was very easy and i'm NOT computer savvy!!

I ended up buying an Olympus digital recorder for $150 and it has helped me a LOT with Physio! I download the lectures (and lab sometimes to) right onto my computer so I can listen to it at least one other time.

I bought an MP3 player/digital recorder/FM tuner this semester myself. I love it so far.

I got a 256MB Yepp YP-55 (made by Samsung) from Best Buy. I got some extras with it, namely the 2-year replacement plan (since I KNOW I'll break it sometime during school!) and an FM modulator... with all costs (the player, the service plan, the modulator, taxes) it's been $270.

The recording quality has been very good with it. Since I got the FM modulator, I can listen to lectures in my car through my FM radio. Originally I was planning to burn lectures to CD to listen to, but now I don't have to bother with that extra step and don't end up with a bunch of lecture CDs cluttering the car.

It's also great using it as an MP3 player-- I use it for my evening workouts, so it's helping doubly with my studies; lecture review and stress-relief.
