My first nursing class

Nursing Students General Students

Hello,

Yesterday I began the first of my many nursing skills and theory classes.

I am so excited. Yesterday we learned how to bathe patients, make beds, and charting. Today was just more theory courses and a lot of lecturing... Nonetheless, I am happy to be making a dream come true.

My instructors seem really cool and willing to help the students get through the program. I have already formed study partners with some of the other students in my program.

I was a little nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect :chair: but now I am ready to get the show on the road. :nurse:

congrats! :) it is very exciting, isn't it? good luck in your studies!

Yes, it is very exciting and interesting. It was just simple things that made me go ... wow... i never noticed a nurse do that whenever I was in the hospital :)

Thanks, I will need it. I am taking 2 lecture/theory courses and 3 skills labs this summer.

It only gets better... :chair:

No, seriously....congrats and have fun! :wink2:

Thanks :)

congrats :roll

welcome to the world of the student :nurse:

Oh how exciting! I remember my first nursing class. It was very scary and oh so quick. We did assessment in 5 weeks we went through all of it and then we went through fundamentals/skills in 11 weeks. In my opinion I hope they change that really soon that is not long enough. The skills portion. It all goes by quickly.

I'd like to add that during your rotations, dont get discouraged by the staff--as with every facility, every job, they do have their bad apples--the ones who voice their thoughts of "student" nurses as if you weren't there. You're not there for "free labor" although most of the nurses appreciate it and are willing to help where they can.....remember you are there to learn and get the hands on you need, WAY different then skills lab......THE ONLY DUMB QUESTION, WAS THE ONE NOT ASKED.......
