IRSC Spring 2017 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone,

I plan on applying to IRSC's Nursing program for Spring 2017, and thought I would create this thread for us to talk about the application process! I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to study for the NLN? I keep seeing that they're updating the exam on IRSC's website, so I'm not sure if I should use the current study materials? Also has anyone had troubles figuring out transfer credits? I will have a BS from FSU and the courses that I've taken for A&P and Microbio have different course codes than the ones IRSC offers.

Good luck to everyone who plans on applying! Hopefully this thread can be as helpful as the last few semesters' threads have been.

Hello! I'm applying for spring semester too! I'm retaking my NLN (I took it 2 yrs ago & got a 109 so my goal is 130 this time). I'm studying the nln review study book I'm not sure about anything being updated as far as that goes. I'm attending the reviews sessions every Tuesday so hopefully that'll help me. I'm not sure about transfer credits I'm sorry I've never gone to any other school except this one. I hope they transfer for you tho! Good luck!!

I suppose I'll just buy the book that's out then! Unfortunately I can't make it to the review sessions since I live out of town at the moment. Have you found them more helpful than just going through the study book?

I'm more of a visual learner & my worst subject is math so it's been more helpful in that section going to the review but the book is awesome! It's got explanations & tests for all subjects that are just like the real test. So it's very informative & helpful! :)

i actually transferred from irsc to ucf and from ucf back to irsc and my credits transferred fine, im sure it should be fine especially sense fsu is in florida, because all florid- state- university institution credits tend to transfer easily. irsc's course codes were different from ucf and they transferred fine at ucf as well.

Does anyone know if I can take the cpr course before I get into the RN program ?? Will it last?

Hello, I am also applying for the spring 2017 nursing program. I finished micro and anatomy 1 and I am now taking the summer off from classes to study for the nln! I have the red nln book, I have the mcgraw 5 nln test booklet, and I also have physics for dummies booklets that I have been studying from! I am hoping to take the nln two weeks before the spring application is due! I just feel very confused on when I can take the nln since the irsc testing center website says you have to make an appointment to take the nln and that you can only start registering for it on September 6 which is past the application deadline? if anyone who has taken the nln before can explain the process to take the nln I would be so happy and less confused lol! I have heard irsc has lowered the nln testing scores since they are loosing alot of their students to schools like keiser and fortis and irsc has also made a deal with the hospital I work for that they will be accepting more students into the nursing program due to the shortage of nurses in the area and the hospital! So I feel the chances of all of us getting in could be higher than previous classes!

I am pretty sure you can ! cpr certificaitons last at least a year before you have to renew them

Thought you guys would want this. Scroll down to the NLN section. I have to call cause the dates are all off so I'm not sure if it's just not updated yet.

Yeah I saw this too and I got really confused, I think it is updated because before those dates were posted there was nothing on the assessment exam schedule page for the NLN! and I tried to call the school on Friday but forgot that the school is closed on Friday. So I instead emailed my guidance counselor and the nursing support specialist Diana Camacho about the NLN test. From the previous nursing classes that posted on here most were able to just walk in and take the NLN before the application deadline but now it seems you have to register for the test on the NLN official website? which I find really confusing since the dates are off like you said and I tried to register for the NLN and it says you cant register until August 1st. So I am still confused about this lol and I am going to call the school tomorrow and hopefully we will all be able to get some answers

Hey @nk1894, I'm trying to apply for spring 2017, the nln dates are confusing to me too! I don't live in the area, so when you find out, can you let us know please?
