IRSC Spring 2017 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone,

I plan on applying to IRSC's Nursing program for Spring 2017, and thought I would create this thread for us to talk about the application process! I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to study for the NLN? I keep seeing that they're updating the exam on IRSC's website, so I'm not sure if I should use the current study materials? Also has anyone had troubles figuring out transfer credits? I will have a BS from FSU and the courses that I've taken for A&P and Microbio have different course codes than the ones IRSC offers.

Good luck to everyone who plans on applying! Hopefully this thread can be as helpful as the last few semesters' threads have been.

Hey @nk1894, I'm trying to apply for spring 2017, the nln dates are confusing to me too! I don't live in the area, so when you find out, can you let us know please?

Hey guys so I called someone from the Nursing Support line and she told me that the dates on the assessment center website are right. So what we have to do first is complete the Online Application before September 1 and then you have to pay 30 dollars for the online application and you bring the 30 dollar receipt with you when you are going to take the NLN. Now when it comes to taking the NLN! The first day to register for the exam is August 1 .You have to register for the exam on the NLN official website. You then have to make an account and then you just type in irsc in the search box and the first thing you should see is dates and times to take the NLN at irsc Fort Pierce campus. I believe the first date to take the NLN is September 6th at 8am. So I hope this helps and at least we have two months to study for the NLN!!!

^^^Thank you!! That helps so much!!

How's studying going for everyone?

I've been studying from the McGraw practice tests and the red book as well. But I've only really been reviewing the reading portion of the test because the math and science section are kinda hard to study on my own since math has never really been my strong suit but I review at least an hour a day since right now I'm vacation! We should start a study group so we can help each other study for the NLN

Hey guys, I just found this thread. I here that the minimum GPA for the upcoming application /program will be 3.0. Any one know how true that is?

I would love to start a study group but I'm not sure cause of how busy & different people's schedules are! I'm going to the review session every Tuesday at the ft pierce campus at 5:30pm & one other random day of the week I meet with a girl to tutor me in math. It's helping! I'm willing to try to set something up tho let me know! (Btw I have 2 small children so that's the main reason it's hard I would need a day that hubby is home) :)

I haven't heard anything like that. I went to the last info session & the lady didn't mention anything like that but she also couldn't tell us what is average score for the NLN from people that for accepted so not sure! I hope not tho cause I think I have a 2.95 or something like that! I'm hoping to get a good score on NLN tho!

I thought this was not true since in the past the minimum GPA that you needed to maintain was a 2.5. But my friend from work emailed her IRSC adviser and her adviser told her that yes you do need a 3.0!

Yeah my schedule is pretty busy too with work but I am sure we can work something out  I am going to try to attend the July 12 review session, depending on if my work schedule changes, I am also going to for sure go to the July 21st nursing information session. but on July 12 I believe they are reviewing chemistry so on July 12 or July 21st maybe we can meet up and figure out what days work best to study together because I for sure I am having trouble reviewing for the math and science portion of the NLN!

Hey guys I thought you all should know that for the semester that we are applying for which is of course spring of 2017 we DO NOT NEED A 3.0 IN ORDER TO APPLY! Irsc just updated their website that explains which semesters require a 3.0! Registered Nurse (R.N.) Program

Thank you!! Ok so if I don't get in this time the next go around I NEED a 3.0 to apply it looks like. Am I reading that correct??

I can't seem to find where it says anything about Spring 2017? I only see clarification for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. Was the minimum initially a 2.5?
