Impatient for info

Hey everyone! I start my core classes this fall. (First day of class is my birthday!) I'm anxiously awaiting a letter with the date and time for orientation. This is the day that we get our required materials list, lab tour etc.

I talked to my adviser (who happens to be our program director) a few weeks ago. She said the letter was going out "shortly" but 3 weeks later I haven't gotten it yet.

I'm trying to plan a few family trips before school starts back up. The time is coming quickly where I will be unable to books houses if I don't find out when orientation is.

How far in advance did you get your info packet? Or at least the date for orientation?

If it's been 3 weeks, it would be totally appropriate to call her back and ask the date, and tell her you are trying to make travel plans.

Unless this is a totally new program, they should know approximately when it will be, even if it's only the month.

Good luck.

That was so hard, waiting to hear about orientation! NS is one long period of waiting for acceptance, then waiting for info on orientation, then waiting for that first day of class, then BAM, you're inundated for 2-4 years depending on your program, and the little notification icons on your college website telling you to do this and do that never stop..... :banghead: I am enjoying my break before psych nursing starts this summer, and refusing to open a textbook until then. I remember before my program started I was like, what do I read? How do I prepare? So for you, I won't say chill out, breathe, relax while you can, because I know you are too excited. So, congrats on your acceptance, and we're here when you need us!

The only nursing related thing I'm doing over the summer is working on dosage calculation with a few classmates who are going to be in class with me in the fall. I had a hard time with dimensional analysis in chemistry.

I know it's going to be nuts once I start which is why I really want to get family time in!

When I asked a few weeks ago she said we would know far enough in advance to make any arrangements we needed. But that was back in the beginning of April :/

Good idea on the dosage calculations. That is my weak point, but once I got dimensional analysis it's not as bad. HATE math. Also you might want to memorize the most common lab values. It will give you a head start because nursing school is mostly about critical thinking and understanding processes, not memorization, but you can't get away with that on lab values.
