I have been doing the Davis Edge practice quizzes and when it comes to nursing process I can't get more than 4-5 correct out of 20! Documentation and Communication I am scoring roughly 6-7 out of 10. Is there something else I can do to understand these concepts? Other books? Media? My first test is coming up and I'm not exactly getting 8's or 9's. Is there something else any of you have done??

Always assess first. If there is ever a "what would you do first" question, the answer is always assess unless the question states that you have already assessed.

Prioritization. Who would you see first questions. With those, think "who could potentially die if I don't see them right away."

If there seems to be more than one right answer (there normally is), revert to ABC, airway breathing circulation. Are any of the patients having an airway or breathing issue? they're first. This includes over-sedation.

Therapeutic communication. This will begin to come more naturally as time goes on. Never ask why. Never offer your opinion. Never judge. In general, find the cheesiest, lamest thing you think you would never say and pick that one. It's almost always right. Crazy thing is, towards the end of the program, you find yourself saying these things, not just to your patients but to your family and friends as well. It grows on you, lol.
