I failed my ATI "Predictor"

Hello All! I am new....I am just seeking some feedback.

My nursing school, they monitor this site so I will not post the name, implemented the use of ATI hard. Their pass rates were below satisfactory so they decided to weight the ATI proctored exams heavily. I completed the program for my BSN, with a few bumps in the road, but I satisfied all requirements. My last semester ATI is worth 50% of the course grade for internship. 30% of the points are for the ATI comprehensive. I needed at least a 90% predicted pass rate and received a 84% pass rate on the second attempt. Imagine my frustration as this failure dropped my passing grade to failing. I am very disappointed with myself mostly. My confidence has been reduced to little-to-nothing and my school has been no help in guiding me through this situation. Now I am faced with copious amounts of student loan debt for a degree denied because if this singular exam, because of my past failure I am not guaranteed admittance to attempt to re-take the course. What do I do????

Well, your only choice seems to be to apply to re-take the course. No, there are no guarantees that you will be readmitted, but at this point, it's your only choice. If your school was being reprimanded for having low passing rates and you struggled with the ATI, then more than likely, your knowledge level isn't up to par with what's needed to pass the NCLEX.

I know it seems like a low blow now, but just think of how far ahead you'll be when you re-take this course next semester. You'll know what to focus on and you'll have more time to prep for the ATI exam. You can use this repeated time to get even better grades, so there's no worry on what you need to get on the ATI. It is a very harsh reality. But, yes, I do feel prepared to re-take without any issues. Thanks for commenting!

They only gave you one attempt? Harsh! We always got a second attempt if we didn't pass ATI exams on the first try. I'm sorry to hear you have to retake the course, but at least you'll be well-prepared the next time, and hopefully, that means you'll pass the NCLEX on the first try. Best of luck!!

The OP stated that she got the 84% on her 2nd attempt.

Sorry they are coming down so hard on you guys, but it will make you stronger when you take the test that really matters, the NCLEX.

I'm sorry this happen to you. I think it is terrible for programs to hold students back just because of one computerize test. NCLEX is all that matters and you can always retake that test too.

Ugh, ATI. My university is a big ATI fan, too. My advice to you is this: if you can go back and see which ones you got wrong, double check them all. We found two errors in the pediatrics practice tests. Otherwise I'm sorry. It sucks to pay all that money to be "taught" to a test. Yes, ATI has shown to up the NCLEX scores, but in real life I will not be given a scenario with 4 answers to choose from. I will be given a scenario and have to critically think.
