If anyone knows, please help me out. I live in New York.
I would post this in the New York section, but hardly anybody post there.
Thanks in advance.

I would call local hospitals. Many have paid externships for students that have finished your first year of school.
Good luck

are you looking in the city or on the island or upstate? I know (on the island) NUMC and North Shore LIJ have externship programs- if you go to their websites, you can find out more info about them.
And, i actually saw a posting outside my professors office the other day for Beth Isreal on Kings Hwy in brooklyn for this summer, too (there were a couple of bklyn hospitals on it, i think, but i cant remember).
Just try to think of all of the hospitals that you can in your area, and then check out their websites. Oh, i think Downstate might have been one of them also. And, ask your professors- they may know and/or have some information on them.

Contact nurse recruitment at your local hospitals and ask.

Exactly as posted above....we had a 'health career fair' on campus where we found out about opportunities with one facility (w/multiple locations)...additionally, I posted on our state's board here on allnurses and got one reply for another hospital chain that does externships....additionally, you might try checking around on other local college's nursing websites to see if anything's posted...I had sent an e-mail to a large teaching hospital in CA to see if they had externships and they were very good about replying....your best bet will be hospital websites and recruiters, however...good luck!!
Thanks for all the replies!
I have been checking out hospitals on the web (in the nyc area) but I have had no luck. Some offer externship to bsn students or to graduate nurses only. But I will keep trying.
