Hi there!! I'm new here. I've been reading posts from this site for a few weeks now, and finally decided to write something.

Let me introduce myself: My name is Ana, I have been married for 13 years. I have 2 kids, a boy 9 and a girl 3; and I'm 30 years old. I was going to college to get my pre-reqs when I got pregnant . I had my son and have been home ever since. My hubby is graduating this May with a PHD from Electrical Engineering, and I've decided to go back to college this Fall. Problem is that all science and math I had I cannot use since it's been 10 years.

It is a little intimidating to go back to school after so many years. I felt better when I read that I am not the only one who is in my 30's. First I'll have to start with all the pre-reqs and then apply for the nursing program here in town, and hopefully get in the first time I apply, because I'm not gettin any younger. Well hope to hear from you.

Ana:rolleyes:

AnaH, Welcome to the boards! Good luck with school!

Hi Ana H,

well I went back to school last year after finishing nursing school over 17 years ago. I worked for a couple of semesters towards by bachelors degree but then we started a family. This sounds very familiar. I'll graduate this June with my bsn and then it is off to grad school in June . good luck, with school. It is alot of fun, lots of homework but very very rewarding. I find the instructors more understanding and appreciative of us "older" students with outside commitments and families. Good luck

I just registered last week myself. This a great board. Everyone is very supportive. Good luck in class, you will do just fine. :)

Welcome AnaH. I went back at 48 My science classes were all very close to 30 years old. So, I essentially started over. Hint! Since you did take these at some point they will be easier to do than if you were going in fresh with no prior kowledge or experience.

The quote in your signature says it all!! :)

I am approaching the big 3-0 this summer and just had my son (third child) 2 weeks ago. I'm going back to school this fall and should finish my degree in 2 years. I've been reading this board for a while but haven't posted, but this is a great place for encouragement and information!

Thank you guys for a great welcome!!!! I can't wait to start school. Now I'm getting ready to take a test required here in TEXAS before I can start college. It is called the TASP test ( TEXAS ACADEMIC SKILLS PROGRAM) I'm plannig on taking it this summer, and then go from there, Thanks again for your great welcome!!

Greetings Ana. 30 years old? why you are just a young'n.(no disrespect).Welcome to the wonderful:eek: world of the stuggling student.I am sure you will do great. This board is definatly a great palce for support(you will get it) and to vent(you will do it).

Hi AnaH,

First, I would like to say Welcome to the board!!!!. I know that you are going to love it here. You'll find wonderful support....I know that I have :D . Secondly, you are never to old to go back to school. It's when a person stops having the drive and perserverance to go after their dream...that's when a person should start to worry. I say this because I'm 29 (where did my 20's go), married for almost 8 yrs...;) and a mother to 3 children...2 dd's who are 7 1/2 and 5 1/2 and a 15 mth. old son. And through it all I have had to stop and start school. Being a woman, a wife and a mother is an extremely hard job within itself...and add being a student to it....yikes!!!.....lol...but I know that I can do it....you can do it...we all can do it....as long as we want it bad enough.....:D . Hope to post to you soon.

Hey AnaH - let me add my welcome, too. I just started back to school with my pre-req's, and I'm taking my PSB-NAT tomorrow evening...at my community college that score is factored in with your pre-req grades to determine who gets into the program. Hopefully my numbers will all add up - I hope to apply for the January 2003 session. I love your quote too. I have a bookmark that says the same thing, and that was what got me started thinking about going back to school in the first place. I'm sure we'll have alot to talk about over the coming months. And don't worry about being "old"...I'll be 46 next month!
