HESI exam

We are required to take the HESI 4 times (each semester), but it's not used to keep us from graduating, rather a tool to see what the instructors have or have not taught us yet to prepare us for the NCLEX.

We took the HESI the first 4 semesters to see how much we had learned. Then we have to do 16 HESI practice (1600 questions total) exams this semester. Next Saturday our class takes the final HESI...if we pass we get to graduate..if we don't...then we have 1 more chance before graduation...if we fail that one...then have to do remedial work and pay for it again our own the 3rd time.

I think it's a little excessive...and just another way to get more money.

We have to take the Hesi at the end of each year. (so 2 times)

If you fail after first year, you have to take a class, which is a good class, but who wants to go to summer school?

Second year, you have to pass to graduate. I am not sure how many times we get to take it.

We need an 850 to pass.

My school just raised the HESI to 900 for our class. Oh great!

Oh well if I have to take it again...I just have to...As long as I don't have to repeat any of my classes. lol

News flash on the HESI... it's one tough test. Our class took the exit exam today. Generally speaking for the class, we're talking a mass casualty... crash and burn. For our class, it's a requirement to pass although remediation and retake is available. I'm kissing the ground that I am one of the lucky few who passed. Still, if this is an indicator of NCLEX, this class is in trouble.

Congratulations! Job well done...

I find out my fate Saturday...I hope the outcome is good. But the way my luck is running...I started my perceptorship today...perceptor was sick and she is quiting next week...so tomorrow is my 1st day in ER with new perceptor. What next?

The Dec 05 graduating class took our final HESI on Monday. From what I have heard we were one of the first schools in the country to take the comprehensive exam for this semester. 14 students did not pass out of 80, but they will be given one final try again before graduation.

The best advice I can give is to REALLY READ THE QUESTION. Sometimes there can be extra information in the questions, or you can cut out two of the answers because they have nothing to do with what is really being asked.

Those of us in the class that studied test-taking strategies and practiced NCLEX questions did better in general than student who studied material only.

Good luck to everyone....its not as horrible as they make it sound, but its not easy either. Just remember that you do know the information- you just have to figure out what answer is what they are really looking for.

Hi i am a level 2 nursing student, and my school is requiring that all levels take a progression test made by HESI. The test is worth 25% of our grade. Does anyone think this is fair?

We are required to the Hesi with an 850 to graduate. They offer two tries, and if the student is unsuccessful on both, they will have to repeat the last semester of the program.

I will graduate in May & Dec.13th will make the 5th Hesi for me.I will also have to take another one in May in order to graduate. All our Hesi's so far have counted as 25% of our grade. We must pass them all or do remedial work, the exit Hesi you get 3 tries...if you don't pass you do not graduate. We are required to pass with a 900 or above, this they say is an indicator of how well you will do no the Nclex.........Thank the Lord I have passed them all so far! I think the Hesi questions are a lot harder than the Nclex practice questions. The questions to me are just worded weird, I read them & think what the heck did that say????? I have used Saunders to prepare & so far it has worked. Good luck to everyone! :)
