So heres my story.... I have had a dream of becoming a nurse since i was 15 years old. I dedicated myself to this career.. I put in over 200 hours volunteering at the hospital when I was in high school, joined HOSA, and begin working at a convalescent when I was a senior. I am currently done with all of my pre-reqs at my community college and I'm about to take my TEAS on the 18th. The one thing that is holding me back is my fear of not being smart enough to be nurse. I did pretty well in my pre-reqs earning in A in both anatomy and physiology and a B in Micro but I had to study like crazy.. I'm the kind of student that has to review things over and over and that scares me because I know in nursing school it's a whole other ball game. I have been studying for my TEAS and I still don't feel confident and I honestly do not know what I will do with myself if I don't pass this exam. I'm scared and I don't know what I'm doing. I have to get a 62% to pass the exam and I took the ATI practice test A and B and barely passed those..:unsure::no: I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my test date is getting here soon... Have any of you taken those practice exams, I did hear they were a bit harder than the actual test but I want more point of views..

Honestly, if you did that well in A&P and Micro, you really shouldn't have a hard time knocking it out of the park and getting at least an 85% on the TEAS. I had a practice book but I never did the practice tests and was a little dismayed at how easy the actual test was. It was a little weird. I wondered if I was being deceived or if I was dreaming. So, don't be so scared of the TEAS. It's not that hard. And with nursing school, it sounds like you're already used to working hard, you're just going to have to learn to work a little harder, a little differently. Good luck!

I don't know about the TEAS test. My school required the RN PAX exam. I would suggest getting a study guide that has sample questions from a local bookstore (or online if you cannot find one locally) and brushing up on math formulas.

Yes, nursing school is hard but don't start off by thinking that you are going to fail because you had to study hard for your science courses. Depending on what type of learner you are, you may actually find the nursing curriculum less hard than the science courses. Science courses are a lot of gross memorization whereas nursing courses are a lot more about understanding the process and choosing the best answer based on a given scenario (critical thinking). It really just depends on the student. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the advice, I'm just so nervous but I'm going to try not to freak myself before hand because I think that will only make it worse lol.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Repeat.

You can do this. The anticipation is worse than the exam.

Don't be so nervous! That is probably really holding you back! I didn't do great on the practice teas exams but I rocked the real one. You'll do fine.

You guys are awesome! Thank you. Im currently going over the science section.... So much Info but it's definitely coming back :)

Hi OP! Being nervous is ok-just don't let it paralyze you. The beauty of nursing is that it is so much more than being "book smart". In nursing school you will get to practice the theories and concepts taught in the classroom. Study groups helped me not only get through nursing school but to graduate with honors. You can do it!!

be confident in yourself, you know how to study and it shows. as a nurse we continue to learn, it never stops. you'll be fine, just try to get a hold of your nerves, can't think clearly if you're panicking. best of luck to you.
