Help! I'm scared.

I have just started a EMT program to help myself gain experience. I have a sinking feeling that I have gotten myself in over my head. Too much work. Too much blood and gore. Too much everything. I really don't want to work on an ambulance, here in my neck of the woods, hospitals use EMTs in the ER to assist usually making about $10/hour. So, I thought it would be good to do while in nursing school.....

I think I made a mistake about EVERYTHING!

Calmmmmm down. Breatheeeee. I know, believe me, I know. We've all been there and I know how scary it can be. You will deal with alot of gross stuff in nursing school but guess what? Once you get out theres so many things you can do with your licence that you'll never have to look at puke again if you dont want to! If this is something you really want to do and it comes from your heart, you'll make it. I remember in Anatomy last year we had to dissect a cat and I ran out crying 4 times! I sure as heck didnt think I would make it in nursing! Now Im in my last year and Im so happy! Its so rewarding to come home from clilnical and say to yourself....."I really did make a difference in someones life".....not to many people can say that. Keep the faith, stick it out......if its not for you dont beat yourself up but give it a chance, you might surprise yourself! Best of luck! We're all here for you!

Hey notanurse, nicloe took the words out of my mouth. Relax and everything will be fine, when you start nursing and continue with EMT tr it will get easier and better, trust me, it's a shock at first but after you relax it wil;l get better, and the experience and knowledge that you will acquire it will help you a great deal with working in the ER and in you nursing carrier. :) :D ;)

(((( notanurse )))) Take a deep breath,,,, and continue,,, the experience will be invaluable,,,

You can do it!!! Keep your eye on the goal,,, take it one day at a time,,,

Instead of letting it overwhelm you,,, use each day as a learning experience,,,

Good luck ~ Best Wishes ~~kitamoon
