If not, then what else? I started out with nursing as my major, then switched to surg. tech., and here I am back at nursing! Thankfully, the pre-reqs are similar, so I didn't take any unecessary classes.

Started out majoring in Administration of Justice/pre-Law, was almost to done with my AD and had to drop out when my husband was transfered (Navy).

Went back a few years later majoring in Elementry Education (K-3), was almost done with the AD and had to drop out when I escaped my abusive marriage and moved across country with a 4 yo, a 1 yo and 8 mo pregnantwith #3.

A few years later (as a single parent) my mom offered to pay my rent for the duration IF I would go to nursing school. Her rationale was that I had 3 kids to raise and (at the time- early 80s) there were very few fields that a woman could walk out of school and right into a good paying job. She stipulated I go the extra year to get my RN rather than stopping at the LPN as, in her experience (as an RN) so many single Moms stopped there planning to go back later and never had the time or money to do so.

Almost 20 years later all I can say is...it is a good thing I liked nursing.

When I first went to college I was a zoology/biology major. I wanted to be a cetacean biologist.

When I first went to college back in 1992, I first majored in Aerospace Engineering then changed it to Computer Science and finally graduated with a BA in Advertising Design. Now I'm returned to school to become a nurse, something I've wanted to do the past 6 years. :chuckle Shell
