Fundamentals- Done!

I took my final in nursing fundamentals yesterday. Can't believe how fast it went. I ended up with a 91%. I needed a 92% for that A so I'm a little bummed about that but also very happy I passed!! It was a very face-paced 4 weeks. We start med/surg I next week. Doing my last lab tomorrow for fundamentals. I'm excited to start med/surg because we will really get into the nursing stuff now. I'm really liking school and all of my instructors so far and can't believe how far I have come in the past year. It's been an awesome ride!! :nurse:

Nursing is one of the hardest majors to major in in college. Congrats to you! Keep it mind it only gets harder from here on out. When you're down, remember passing is passing and thats all that counts!

Omg so true. I think so many of felt such huge pressure to maintain a 4.0 in the prereqs that we freak out in nursing school when we don't have an A. It's okay to sometimes pass with a lower grade, this course work is harder. It's no longer memorization of facts, it's application of knowledge with a heaping dose of critical thinking thrown in.

Yea definately! Also even though you mightve gotten a B or B- when you hoped for that A A-. The easier nursing classes end up bringing that overall gpa up in the end aka fundamentals, intro to nursing, leadership, etc. The harder classes are definately the critical thinking ones where people really have to work on changing their mindset and outlook aka medsurg 1 and 2, peds, maternity. But then again it also really depends on the school and their curriculum.

Yes nursing is definitely hard... I used to be an "A".... 4.0 student until nursing school now I feel like as long as i am grasping and retaining the information and trying as hard as I can and pass I am good... Prepare me to be a great RN and pass the nclex!

Here's the problem I am running into... In my program, I have to keep a minimum of 84 to pass. That's fine, but a 90 is still a B...I plan on completing a DNP when this is over...but if I keep racking up 90s which are Bs it's not good for the cumulative GPA. I no what you could be thinking, stop getting 90 but if you miss one and drop to a 90 something is wrong with the measurement tool.

I was a straight A student in my prereqs. Trying to adjust to the new scale where an A is now a B. I did though get a solid A in the lab so I was happy for that.

I have always been fascinated with the disease process and pharmacology. That's one of the reasons I know I am going to really like this class. I am the person who can spend a whole day learning about different conditions. At the age of 8 I was reading medical encyclopedias for fun! I know I was a complete nerd! So I will really be into med/surg. We only have 4 weeks until we start clinicals. I'm really also getting excited for that!!
