Foreign graduate BSN To US BSN..

Nursing Students General Students

I'm going to be a BSN soon(Foreign graduate). My question is do I need to take extra class In order for me to become a BSN in the US? How many units and how long it is? The reason why I asked this is because I want to become a US army nurse.I'm a US Citizen already..

Basically, you have your foreign credentials evaluated when you apply for a US nursing license. You would be told at that time if any of your previous education was insufficient and what you would need to do to complete the process. Believe I have read somewhere where people with the same qualifications were evaluated with different results, so hard to say. Each case treated on a case by case basis by the licensing authority.

Really?hmm so all I need to do is to have my credentials evaluated first.. thanks

When you apply to a US state (whichever state you choose) for licensure as a foreign graduate, part of that process will be getting whatever credentials evaluation that state requires done so that the state can determine whether or not your education meets their requirements. If it does (and everything else checks out), you will be authorized to write the NCLEX-RN (the licensure exam). If not, you'll have to make up whatever areas of nursing education you're short to be eligible for licensure in that state.

Your degree will still be your degree from whatever school you attended -- what you want is licensure as an RN in the US (in a US state), not to "become a BSN in the US." If you have a BSN, you will still have one in the US, but the degree is not the same as a license to practice nursing.
