First Semester Almost over!

Hi everyone!

Well tonight was my last A & P1 class and lab! I made it out alive! Woo hoo! I got an A- in class/lecture and barely made it by the skin of my teeth with a C for lab! So everyone cross your fingers for me.... tomorrow is the last day for Chemistry.. and then we'll see if I can move onto my other classes so I can get into the nursing program! A & P 2 next semester! I hope everyone was honest when they said it was easier than the first!

Anyone else have any great accomplishments this semester? I hope your all starting to relax as the semester is coming to an end. Enjoy your holidays and a few weeks off!

One other question, Does anyone know what the requirements are for a PCA? I heard that somewhere along the line during the nursing program, you should be able to be a PCA. However I am not sure what you actually need for that. If you have any ideas or just comments to share.... I'd love to hear from you!

Happy Holidays !

Stephanie :roll

Stephanie, Congrats on passing your A&P! I don't know how A&P II is because where I took my pre-reqs Anatomy and Physiology were two seperate classes.

How did your Chem final go today? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Sorry, I don't know what requirements are needed for a PCA. In our school we have to have a CNA cert to start the program, maybe it is the same type of thing?

Rn2bNC,

Thank you for the luck!! I am all done with first semester!! I made it out alive! Well for Chemistry, she told us our final was optional depending on what we though about our grade. I had to take the last exam from last week today to see if I should take the final. I didn't do so great on the exam, but I ended the class with and A-. Which was good enough for me! I didn't want to take the final, just incase it might have brought my grade down! I took the easy way out... but Oh well! I wish you luck in your classes. How far into the program are you?

I signed up for A & P 2! So I hope it's a great class. Know anything about micro? Hard? Interesting?

Talk to ya later!

Stephanie!

Congratulations Stephanie!

Good job on your classes!!

AP II is easier than AP I. I thought it was more interesting too....most of the time anyways. Although I am shocked I got an A.......only because my professor was trying to prepare us for nursing & would give us tests that were similar to the NCLEX...meaning that there was more than one right answer to choose from. We had to choose the best answer. That freaked a lot of people out because we aren't used to exams like that.

Microbiology is interesting also....you learn how viruses & bacteria enter the body & what damage they can cause, how your immune system works, etc. Hopefully you will have a good professor....I think that makes all the difference in the world. Mine gave us a study guide & also a list of terms we needed to know for each chapter. Then if we turned in the list of terms with the definitions....she would add 3 points to each test score. I guess it was her way of making sure we were taking the time to read the book. I realize I had a great professor. The lab was interesting too because you get to do a lot of different types of experiments.

Good luck to you in those classes. :)

Congrats on your Chem grade! An A is awesome! I wouldn't have taken the final either, if I was given the choice.

Micro was my favorite of the pre-reqs, I thought it was really interesting. But I guess that had a lot to do with my instructor, she was a really good teacher.

I will be graduating my program this spring. I can't wait!

Hope you enjoy your break!

Thanks everyone!

Good luck to all of you! I am excited to start Micro now! It doesn't sound as scary now! But let's get past A & P 2 first! Hope you all have a wonderful break and a great holiday!

RN2bNC - that's great! Wish I was already there! :)

Take care

Stephanie!

stephanie, congratulations!

Hi everyone,

been reading along for a few months now, but first time for posting. Wanted to wait until I was finished with my first semester, so that I would have something to add to the discussions. Anyway, took 4 classes this past semester including A&P 1, Human developement, math and english. Got A's in 3 of the classes, but had to ask for an extension on the math because I ran out of time. Have to work full time, raise 2 kids along with going to school; so 4 classes was a little to much for me. But hopefully can get an A in math also and make it a perfect 4.0. I hope to get into the crna program later, so have to try to keep my grades up. Anyway, glad to meet and learn from so many nice people on this board. B.H

I think I'm gonna end up with an A in Micro, Psychology, and Computers and probably a B in Sociology. Oh, well. Win some, lose some.

My boyfriend talked to a girl he works with who just finished her first semester in the program I'll be starting in the spring, and she said it wasn't that hard. :) Good news for me. I'm already making out my will. :b
